I've extracted the clip of the vest demo from the video using Movie Maker. It is a 6 minute wmv file. (93 mb in size)

Anyone have an idea where I can put it to be viewed? :)

I for one am happy to hear that AP ammo is only obtained once in a while and isn't available to insurgents in a greater and regular supply...but it still stinks that they have a few rounds of it floating around their inventory.

Jack 93mb?! Yowza! Any way you could boil it down to a couple of key scenes in the form of sub-1 minute ultracompressed files? I'd love to have that available.

Sure, I can prune it down to just the shots fired but it will lose some of its info value. I will work on it later today and try for an email freindly 5 mb file size.

Long ago, before the town of Central Lake, Michigan decided that the money the Second Chance Shoot brought into the local economy wasn't worth having, Dick Davis had his promotional vidoes running nearly all the time at his backyard shoot. One of which was about the Second Chance Hard Corps III vest. In said video, Davis shot a guy, who was wearing the vest and standing on one foot, with an FAL from one foot away. There was no movement whatsoever by the shootee as a result of the shot. That was back in 1989. The vest was retailing at around $300US and weighed about 20 pounds. It was/is a combination of Kevlar and ceramic plates.
It has always amazed me that, after the town shut his shoot down, Dick didn't pack up his factory and move someplace that wanted the jobs. I'm guessing Dick feels that his employees' jobs are more important than a recreational shoot.

I've finally got a usable file size but still have nowhere to put it. If anyone would like to see it, let me know and I will email it to you.

Holy crap, thanks for both of thoes vids. Although that looks extremly uncoordinated and it does look cool.

Ok - re Kevlarman's two clips .......... I have placed these on putfile.com - this saves eating my own bandwidth but does mean you may have to view files in streaming mode, unless you have a good download manager in which case should be OK to download them straight off. Hope they will work for folks.

Clip 1 - 10mm thru boards - 2.7Mb

Clip 2 - On boat - SKS and Mini fired close up at vest - 8Mb

Dallas Jack - tried to PM you with my email re that vid but seems you have PM's turned off. Maybe you could try and send to my THR Email ? If you manage it OK let me know cos I may have to go to mailbox to fwd to self. Depending on size, maybe we can host it somewhere.

Thx to Dallas Jack for a mega shrink of the part showing the .308 against vest - plus 44 mag self shoot to vest!! The quality is of course with such compression not too great but - totally readable and worth seeing. I have again thrown this up on putfile server tho uncertain as to whether it transfered Ok - have to see..

Clip of 308 and 44 mag - 2.4Mb

Titus- Is this the episode?

Yes I just replied to a 4 year old post. After randomly coming across this video clip on Youtube, naturally I came back to THR and just HAD to search to find out if this video was faked and a joke. After now finding out that it is in fact real, I have to say the individuals involved in this "test" are some F'in Darwin award winners if I've ever seen any. I don't care how state of the art or effective your body armor may be, I don't care how experienced you are and how much you try to make such a test a safe one, turning a gun on yourself to test out a vest is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Sheer stupidity. Some good may have come of it in terms of greater public/industry knowledge in the realm of body armor, but that really just does not live down the sheer stupidity of such a so called "test". :banghead::banghead::banghead: :uhoh:

Since all the previous links are dead, here's a new one with the "Deadly Weapons" test:
