I completed my Form 1 rimfire can last week. It is 1" in diameter by 6" long, and uses a series of 9 cone baffles separated by aluminum spacers. Each of the spacers is a tube with 3 slots milled in it so that it 3 legs. The baffles were made from fender washers pressed into cones and drilled out to .265".

When shooting standard velocity .22 LR, in person it sounds like an air rifle, and from 50 yards or so away it's not identifiable as a gunshot. I tried a few shots with Winchester Super-X high speed ammo and there's definitely more of a crack, but it's still ear-safe.

I'm pretty happy with it for my first suppressor.

The tube is 6061 aluminum, the cap where it screws onto the muzzle is 12L14 steel, and the end cap is 360 brass.

The baffles are fender washers formed into cones and drilled out to 0.265". The spacers between the baffles are 6061 aluminum.

If I do another one I'll use 7075 AL instead of 6061.

That did come out nice. I would have guessed paintball gun just listening to the video.

On an unrelated note, does that Ruger 22/45 Lite have both sights and a rail on it or am I just looking at it wrong? If it does have both, how did you go about that? I've only seen the railed/no sights model or the sights/no rail model.

Looks and sounds great.
Coincidently, I just mailed in my first Form 1 for a suppressor this morning. This makes me even more excited to get the stamp so I can commence "constructive intent"!

Thanks for the picture. I just went ahead and bought a 22/45 Lite myself - the iron sighted model, and was pleased to discover that it comes with a rail in the box. You just have to attach it.

I bet that rig you have set up with a suppressor and red dot makes a handy little training pistol for new shooters! Can you still see the front sight with the red dot mounted?

You cannot use the iron sights with this red dot mounted, unfortunately.

I got my 9 y/o daughter to try the setup but it's right at the limit of what she can handle due to the small size of her hands. Once she grows some more I suspect she'll be shooting it quite a bit.

I need to get my Savage Mark IIGL threaded for the can.

I've a similar setup, you can't use the irons with the red dot mounted.

While I love red dots, I'm not sure they are a good choice for new shooters.

With irons you need to learn to focus on the front sight while aligning the blurred rear with the blurred target using the front sight as a "fulcrum".

With a red dot you need to look through the dot and focus on the target -- its why they rule for CQB as its darn hard to not focus on the threat if the bullets may be flying both ways!

My wife has a difficult time making the switch from irons to red dot or vice-versa, so she tends to stick with the irons. She's younger than me, so I tend to stick with the red dots as I can only use irons if the light is "just right" or I put on reading glasses :(

I've even switched to having a dot optic on my carry pistol (Trijicon dual illuminated RMR -- no batteries, hate that the sight & mount cost more than the pistol).

Dave, do you have any suggestions on what kind of .22LR ammo the Ruger likes? My experience has been that semi-auto .22s can be particular about what they'll eat.

My 22/45 Lite isn't too finicky. It feeds CCI Mini Mags, SV, and Subsonic HPs just fine. It's also worked well with Federal 550 bulk pack and Aquila Subsonics. It does not like Federal Automatch.

But each .22 is a rule unto itself. Try a variety of ammo.

One thing to note is that with the can mounted, the action gets FILTHY. I just keep it well lubed with FP10 so the crud floats out.

Good to know. Although I about popped a vein trying to get the bolt stop pin in after the last cleaning. Maybe I should get the bolt NP3'd :). Gave it a try with Blazer, American Eagle and CCI subs today and it ate everything well except for a few problems with the subs once it got dirty.

Also learned they were not BS-ing when they suggested loctite on the rail screws.

The Tandem Kross bushing that allows you to remove the mag safety makes reassembly easier. But unless the gun is so dirty it won't function I don't field strip it. I just clean the bolt face and inside the ejection port with a brush, make sure the chamber is clean with a Boresnake, and lube the snot out of it.
