Hey all, anyone have experience with Browning's Buckmark Rifle? I know the pistols are pretty well thought of as reliable and accurate pistols. Any word on the rifles? I'm specifically looking at the target version with the bull barrel.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I think they are overpriced, for what other rifles you could get , and very accurate and beautiful ones at that, with the same money. my 2c.

Given that you can't go from rifle to handgun, and that it's aesthetically repellent I'd pass on it. It seems like the butt stock could have been much better executed, just my opinion of course.

Had one and liked it.

I had one that I eventually traded toward an FAL. It had the best and cleanest trigger pull on any .22 I ever owned. It had a nice finish and was as accurate as an none custom .22 at the range. I would have shot it againist .22 bolt actions. It also nice because it is not another Ruger 10/22 with a crappy alloy reciever that is not very conducive to scope base changing. Steel screw into alloy hole means threads be gone soon. It buckmark rifle does like to be clean after 150 to 200 rounds mine liked to have action cleaned to operate flawlessly.

I would recommend one.

Thanks all, I've had experience wiht the pistols and really liked the trigger feel and the accuracy. The appearance, as strange as it seems, appeals to me. Its a unique look, very different from your standard 10/22 that everone owns. I believe that they designed the stock like they did to keep your hand away from the action. Lawyers probably said there was too much chance for lawsuits if they didn't force your hand lower. Works for me though. Unique and different. Price isn't too much concern, as I work at a sporting goods store and can get a really good price on one direct from Browning. Where as Ruger doesn't give any special pricing. Remington is another option for a semi-auto .22, but doesn't seem to have the quality level there.

Thanks, and keep any insights, etc. coming.

As much as Rockstar.esq and I argue in real life about what is and is not "aesthetically repellant", on this one I have to agree with him. While it is something different, I just sort of don't see the point. Why would you buy that carbine in favor of the 5 or 6 (that I can think of off the top of my head) actual carbines on the market? If you could switch back and forth between pistol and carbine, it would make sense to me, and in fact I would either have one already or at least would want one. Since it doesn't, I just don't see the point unless your simply after something different. Don't get me wrong, I am sure they work just fine, but I just fail to see any good reason to choose them over any other carbine.
