I tried this load today. I have to say it made me very anxious. Min charge for a 158gr bullet is 15.1gr and max isn't much more. It darn near filled the case. The first time I shot it in my Security 6 snub I used my left hand and put a wooden post between the gun and the rest of me.
Worked fine though. Clean, appeared to be accurate, recoil was fine for a magnum in a snubby.
Anyone else use this load?

I tried 16.0 Grs N-110 with a 140 Gr XTP, and it was a compressed load. 15.5 Grs AA #9 with that bullet was about 95% load density.

Check these loads against load books and follow that data.

My go to load in 357 with 158 JHPs and N110 is 15.0gr. Works awesome with everyone of them. Chronoed velocity is very good but nowhere near off the charts. N110 is the best 357 powder, bar none. I don't think you could get enough of the stuff in a 357 case with the bullet seated to blow up a gun. Some top end 110 gr bullets I loaded once were fully compressed at max and they shot just fine, but you couldn't seat the bullets with anymore powder in there. I guess the max load with N110 is when you can no longer seat the bullets. Doesn't get any safer than that. Too bad it is so pricey, hard to find and now only available in one pound canisters. I'm almost out of my eight pound keg I bought years ago.

Megadittos here.

Using my 92Winchester, my two go-to's are:

V-N110 is a casefiller; does not need to max out like W296/H110, takes small pistol primers, and is superbly consistant.

Other than that I have no opinion. ;)

(Lawyerspeak: YMMV. Always start lower and work up)

What kinds of numbers did you get off the chrono?
I go about it this way, I start with the min load and work up until the shell extraction becomes sticky. Somewhere in between I have found the most accurate load, so I use that.

I do not apply this method to self loaders

I get around 1320fps with 158gr XTPs with 15.0gr of N110 out of my 6.5 inch Blackhawk. 18.0gr under 125gr XTPs yields around 1530fps out of the same gun. This is using VihtaVuori's data.

Another fan of V V -N110, fed 100 primer and 110,125 and 158 jhps. The lighter bullets in a lever carbine. Don't need a mag primer and use Speer's data.

I find the VV data off their website/manual to be hot in .375 with n110. The load gets so compressed at max that I can't seat bullets well.

Very clean and seems pretty accurate though.

I have used n110 in my hunting and SD loads for about 5 years now, love it.

I have always used sm rifle primers.

14.8grns and a 158grn XTP gave me 1360fps out of my 6.5 Blackhawk, and 1700 from my Marlin.
