So outside of price, what is your opinion on VihtaVuori powders?

Its listed in the Hornady manual as 4200 ft/s with 32 gr V-Max for the .204 Ruger.

From what I gather this is spherical powder, so it should have a consistent throw in my Dillon.

I just picked up a bottle of BLC2, to try out in both the 243 and 204, but the VV N140 might be cool to play with.

I've never used the 'V' powders.

But BLC2 is THE powder for .204, IMO. Although I haven't found any load with any powder to be unaccurate in this caliber, BLC2 has delivered superb results and is all I use. But I really only load 39g Sierras at the moment.

VV is the cleanest powder I've ever used in both pistol and rifle flavors. I personally can't tell that it's any more accurate than the other precision powders I shoot (Varget and RL15). It smells a lot better than Accurate powders

I haven't shot anything over 32 grain in my 204, sans the very first box that was 40s. The groupings weren't very good, but neither was the 32gr. It settled down, way down, after the first 60 rounds, and I just stuck with 32s. I am going to load up some 40's and see how they go. I really like the Sierra MatchKing 85gr HPBT's in my 243, so I will have to give those 39s a go sometime.

Very clean and consistent. That said, I don't shoot any in rifle except for my Bench gun. I like it in pistol. Very, very, clean.

My favorite powders for .38 special (320 and 340). Nice slow burn behind lead makes a fun cowboy load.

Have used VV N550 and N160. Exceptional powders for medium bore rifles.

I've use a couple of Vihta Vuorhi powders with OK results. I think you can probably do just as well with more economical powders with better availability though.

I shot benchrest for years with a 6ppc. If you check out the benchrest matches, nearly everyone uses Vitha Vuorhi powder. They usually post what the top ten winning people of each match uses for rifle, cal., bullets, powder and primers. Since benchresting is the ultimate in accuracy testing of a rifle, I think that the benchrest people who use this powder to achieve groups in a single tiny round hole consistantly is a great testament of this powders potential.

N 140 has been my standard powder for many years for .308, 6.5x55 and 8x57 IS. Excellent accuracy and conssistency.

BLC-2 is a little fast burning for 243 but should be fine for 204

vv310 is the best powder you can use for 9mm in IDPA (with 147gr bullets)

Vihtavuori makes both stick and ball powders, as well as double base high energy powders (the 500 series).

It is exceptionally clean and very consistant burning. As a previous poster mentioned, it is a standrd powder in benchrest.

I have been using N135 for my M1A match loads for several years, and it is outstanding powder. In the past it could be somewhat difficult to get. Now that Hodgdon is going to be the US distributor, I am hoping it will be more available.

VV is really not much morecostly than other powders. Some people note the high cost of 'cans' but VV is normally sold in 2 pound and 8 pound containers, not one pound.

When you consider great performance a value, V-V powders are not any more exspensive than a poor performing powder at any price.

VihtaVuori powders....

made in Finland ( Howdy, I am from Finland and new ones in here and my language is miserable). I use only that powder. I have 14 guns and reloading them only with Vihtavuori. You can to see already from numbers burningrates. Riflepowdres: fast N-110, -120, -130........and slow to N-170/ 20N41 and 20N29 for .50 BMG. Pistol powders N-310.....N-350 and special for .38 super auto, 40 S&W and 45 ACP; 3N37. IPSC; 3N38. For supermagnums N-105. ( N-110 too) There is new ones for cowboy shooters; N-32C/ "Tin Star"- powder. I use it for subsonic loading witch silencers. It is like N-320 but it takes more capacity in cases.( fine witch .38 spl ) Maybe somebody can to read and understand my text. Kauko :banghead:

Seriously they make first class powders for rifle and pistol. I use N340 in .40 S&W and N110 in .44 Mag.

Sounds great. N320 is good for downloading with, and a bulkier version would be just the ticket. I will have to see if it is available here.

A freind loads .357 mag with N110-I think--His brass looked like it was fresh out of the tumbler (inside and out) after firing these loads. Their powder has to be the cleanest burning I've ever seen.
