Yeah WT, that is the essential problem we face today: it is easy to get a felony conviction. Just ask John Stewart.
If it were hard (as it should be) to get a felony conviction (by actually doing something genuinely bad), then I would be all for onerous restrictions on such people. The problem is that there are thousands of laws that produce felony records on a wide range of people that a reasonable person wouldnt consider a serious threat to society. Actually it is even to the point that certain misdemeanors will void your RKBA.
Is this right? You seem to be saying it is. Merely pretending that the laws are fair will not make the odious secondary problems it causes go away.
