I came across this video on another forum. Video from a security camera in a lobby by some elevators. A girl is beaten by her attacker and robbed.

It is graphic, no blood however.

I want to hunt down the bastard that did this. Horrible wakeup call of the dangers of everyday life.

So true. She was totally in condition white. She should not have allowed that guy to get behind her or even that close.

It's amazing that the two of them were the only ones in the room, she had to be aware of his presence, being that close, yet he took her completely by surprise.

I agree with you, but different countries have different ideas about what is comfortable proximity.

Americans tend to expect much more space around them, which is why Americans are often viewed as cold and aloof in other countries.

I was trying to get one of my friends who speaks and writes fluently in both Chinese and English to write smart- ass white boy in Chinese for me (To be engraved on my Norinco 1911 grips and possibly for a new tattoo.) After about an hour he gave up. His answer was you can translate the words but you can't translate the meaning.

OK, if this, 'street defense' weren't so well-known, I'd hesitate to post it on a public forum; however, as (just about) anyone who's spent a lot of time on the road could tell you:

Now I know, 'Why' I've had the habit of, 'quartering' and taking a quick step to one side whenever someone gets too close to me from behind. I have done this for so many years, now, that I don't, even, think about it - It's, just, something that I ALWAYS do.

(I know it's important to be reminded, from time to time, 'Why' we need to be vigilant; but, I feel so bad for this woman - What a shame! I hope she comes out of it all right.)
