Volunteer Arms 9mm carbine?

Wa-hoo! That'll bring 'em out of the woodwork TIH!

That is a Volunteer Commando Mark 9 (I believe). Most of the Volunteer Arms guns were in 45 caliber. I believe the 9mm versions to be more rare, and perhaps more valuable?

I was just out shooting mine today. I have the older version Commando III and in 45 ACP, built sometime around 1970-'71. I like mine a LOT. Its a fun shooter and feeds most everything I feed it, even SWCs.

As far as value, I've seen prices all over the map. Some guys won't give you a Heritage Rough Rider for one while others are asking almost as much as an auto-ordinance version.

There are a few websites that focus on these guns but, since Volunteer has gone out of business, there's really not much help on the net. You might want to check out this website though -- http://www.freewebs.com/grungebag/

He's got a fair amount of information on the variations of these guns and some help and troubleshooting. Here's a pic of mine. It's older, been run through the mill and it looks it. That's why I like it so much!

Glad to help.

Go ahead and check out the site, then sign up and contact him through the forums that he has established. He's always looking for information on these guns and that site is devoted only to them. So, anything you can help him with, will only serve to help others down the road.

How 'bout a little info on your gun? Did you just get it? Have you shot it yet? If not, let us know how it shoots when you do!

thanks for the info! I got it locally in a trade but will probably sell it.

That said, I found out that they are supposed to be pretty good shooters despite heavy trigger (due to being striker fired).
