Thinking about this to put on a 6.5 CM. Opinions please. I'll be shooting out to 300 yards.

I think the scope would work good for you. Myself I like just a cross hair when I look through a scope no other lines in it at all.

The magnification will work just fine for your use out to 300 yards.

I am personally not a fan of BDC reticles since they never match up to the gun and ammo I shoot. I prefer either MOA or MIL reticles. I also prefer that the turrets match the reticle.

He has a Konus scope on it now. It's my sons rifle. My neighbor said somethings wrong with it. So i just asked him whats wrong with it. He thinks the field of view should be real wide. Because of the large bell. I tried to explain the bell size is how much light it can gather. But he's hard headed. My son likes the scope. I have not shot the rifle myself. So i'll work with the Konus for now.

I like that site. Thanks for sharing.

Eurooptic has a very large variety of scopes and sells "refurbished" and "demo" or "floor demonstrator" (you get the idea) at really good prices. Same warranty and everything. Last scope I bought was a floor demonstrator and the only thing I found was some dust. Camera Land in NY is worth a look also (FYI). No more Vortex for me.

Thinking about this ... Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x-50mm ... $199 ... out to 300 yards
You can get a Burris 4.5-14 for $161 better scope than the crossfire
Actually, you can get Burris Fullfield II 6.5-20x50 Mil-Dot model for $151 + $9 shipping from Dack Outdoors (They drop ship so it will be about a month) - https://dackoutdoors.com/product/bu...-yds-fov-1-tube-black-matte-ballistic-mil-dot

I have 30mm tube Vortex Crossfire II 6-24x50 and 1" tube Burris FF E1 6.5-20x50 and both provide clear picture of 22LR holes at 100 yards with comparable brightness of field of view and extra 20x power of Burris should help with shooting longer distance of 300 yards over 12x.

I also like my Strike eagle 4x24x50. It's nice too.
I like mine as well, especially 80 MOA turrets. 👍

His position about FOV is correct. This position about light gathering is not. Exit pupil is the major determinant for apparent brightness, and larger objectives have larger exit pupils than smaller objectives - it doesn’t gather any extra light, the same photons reach the objective lens in either case, but the larger objective simply compresses it less for a given magnification.

Natchez has the Burris on sale right now also....Ive been meaning to try one of their Weavers, might since Im getting frustrated with the short tube on the Prime im using as a filler scope atm.

I looked through my 50mm vortex scopes. They too have a smaller FOV. My cheaper weaver's, bushnell's ect ect 30mm have a wider FOV. Does focal length effect it? The bigger scopes are longer. I also noticed 4x on one of the 30mm vs 50mm. The 50 has more magnification.

This right here. The Burris is a better scope in every way, and it's not made in China. Chinese scopes are an easy pass as there's always a non-Chinese option that is cost competitive and performs better. This is another non-Chinese option. https://www.natchezss.com/exclusive...50mm-1-rifle-scope-sfp-dual-x-non-illum-black https://www.natchezss.com/exclusive...ope-4-16x44mm-30mm-sfp-dual-x-non-illum-black

The one Willy mentioned i have on my mini 14. I ordered the Burris Fullfield II 6.5-20x50 for the 6.5. I discussed it with my son. He agreed. It's my sons rifle. He just cant use it now. He got into trouble. I put the Konus on my Savage A22 target. Zeroed it in with CCI Mini mags today. I did a 50 yard zero on it. I also set up clays at 100 yards. Nailed every one with 1 shot each after i go the hold over figured out.

I'm not saying it's the best scope, far from it in fact. But Arken has their older SH line selling at 25% off their already marked down price. I just picked up an SH4 4-16x for like $240. I honestly don't know of any scope that comes close for that price.

The turrets are really nice and the glass is more than adequate. If the form factor suits you, it would be hard to go wrong for the price. It does fine for out to about 300 yards. Anything beyond that, I'd much prefer the resolution of better glass.
