Vortex scopes, how good are these?

I have a Viper PST and I like it. It's as good as any other optic in it's price range and better than the other one's I've tried myself.

Their Razor HD scopes are really nice. I would much rather have a Razor HD than a comparable Leupold. I'm not saying they're the best but I think when you factor in price, they are pretty hard to beat dollar for dollar. Once you get past a certain price point it becomes a whole new ball game anyways.

Greyling22, really? I had an issue with my PEPR mount, no questions ask, just shipped me a new one. It took under two minutes to get a live person. The Burris FFIII 1-4x24 is topping my Sig 516. I love it. A buddy has the Black Diamond and it is as good as any Vortex my eyes have peeped through.

I hate to hear that you had issues.. I despise the fact it didn't come with at least a bikini cover, but I won't knock the glass for that.
Yeah, I called to ask about why my new scope didn't include the bikini cover, to see if it was a mistake or if it could be purchased separate, and I waited 10-15 minutes on the phone. Then a couple months later I called about a ring question and waited a long time then as well. I've waited a lot longer to talk to bushnell, and I"ve had to wait about that long on leupold too. I'm not trying to bust burris, I like their rings and I like my older burris scope, but when I stack my newer ff2 up against other scopes at a similar price point it come up short in every area for me. Obviously most people like them, I don't know. I'm just special I guess.

I'm going to sell it and try something else. natchez has some refurb buckmasters, a weaver classic v, and a nitrex scope all in the $130 range that look promising.

I run a Vortex Viper (.223 match rifle) and Vortex Crossfire (6.8SPC hunting rifle). Love 'em.

I dont own any vortex "scopes", but I have both the strikefire red/green dot and the sparc red dot. Both are superb for anyone who doesnt want to spend 1000 on a combat sight that can be rolled over by a tank.

I have had very good success with Burris FFIIs in their price range. In head to head lowlight comparisons with even more expensive Leupolds, Nikons, and Bushnells I have owned, the FFIIs held up very well. That said, for a little more money, the standard by which others are measured is the Leupold VX-2 3x9x40. Hard to beat.

Only downside I have found with mine. Is eye relief. That is the only thing that shows that it is a cheep scope. I can still hit 2.5inch groups at 600 with mine.

I've had a couple Vortex scopes. One was a Diamondback and the other was a Viper PST. The Diamondback was a good cheap hunting scope that I found comparable to others in its price range. The PST on the other hand blows it's competitors out of the water. There is nothing under 1k that can compete with the PST on features and glass quality in my opinion. They compare well against a Mk4 Leupold for a good bit less money.

I did recently sell my PST to get a Nightforce. Now that is a hell of a scope.

in that price range id look hard at a vx1 luepold. I wouldnt have said that a year ago whe it had friction ajustments but the newest vx1 has the same glass , coatings and same click ajustments as the vari x III had just a few years back and it was considered a good scope by about anyone. Hard to find much better then that for 200 bucks which is less then half what the old vari x III cost and thats not even factoring in what your dollars worth today. For all practical purposes its about like if you could have bought a vari x III for a 100 bucks in 1999
.

As with most everything, you get what you pay for. I have had most of the "high end" brands. For me, I don't care for Nikon, Can never go wrong with a Leupold, but my Vortex PST is a great glass.

The name Vortex is plastered all over a lot of gun and optic boards. What I have noticed is a lot of people rave about CS and how good the warranty is when they need it which seems to be a lot. Personally I would rather not find out about either warranty or CS

I was at Gander Mountain and they have this Vortex Diamondback for $200. Like all said, the quality is worth its price. I compared the Nikon Monarch and it is super bright and clear. The Leupold tactical with 30 mm tube is even more brighter.

The Gander Mountain by me has 50 scopes on mock stocks and I have yet to see any difference in 150-1200 dollar scopes in the store and you can almost get 100 yd view.
