I'm considering a VZ 58. A $900 import model just isn't going to happen.

However, I've seen them for around $500. I suspect they are Century builds.
I know Century has a spotty reputation for builds.

How are the VZ 58s in Century build quality?

There have been some D-Technic's on sale from a select few distributors as of late, if you are in good with your local dealer, something you'll NOT get from the internet or box/chain stores, you might ask him if he would be willing to throw you a deal....tell him you know there are some D-Technic VZ-58's for dealer sales at around the mid $500 range and ask what kind of deal he could do.

Be respectful with his price though, he does have to pay the bills, something most folks forget.

Also, do a SEARCH here, there has been a lot of cross talk concerning your exact question on VZ quality lately, but short answer, Century built VZ's are pure junk.

7.62mmfirearms.com has theirs listed for $695. if you google them look at the home page their is a green bar after the second paragraph that says, check out new rifle selections click on that, goto page 3. i have one from them & haven't had any problems. the vz 58 is a great rifle & well worth the money. ps. i dont care for century, i would stick to checkpoint or these guys.

i have 2 and they both run great after 1000 or so rounds. the build work was subcontracted and the quality is just fine in every one that i have seen. biggest problem was the retaining pin that holds on the lower handguard walked a bit and needed to be re-staked. don't waste your money on anything else.
