Couple of pics, one was here earlier but got lost, so I put it up again. If I would be naming guns, I would opt for "classics" and call it Vera.
Finally got a little addon for the rifle, but the work is not done yet, rifle would primarily need fiber-sights and extended mag and bolt release, and maybe later a FAB forearm for VFG. But I am almost happy with it the way it is now.
Bayonet does make it look a bit evil, but the can more so:
Suppressor is Ase-Utra SL7, good enough to shoot a 24 inch barrel 300WM rifle without any hearing protection all day long. Couple of interesting things came out.
First, what recoil? Both the suppressor itself and the additional weight gets the recoil to pretty much a .22LR level. I would go for a lighter one though, since the barrel is pretty thin and the SL7 weights around half a kilo, SL5 would be almost 200 grams lighter. So far the suppressor made the hits move to the right for about one meter at the 100 m line. On the other hand on the beforementioned 300WM the POI moves 2 centimeters vertically @ 100m. Perhaps the lighter one would be better.
Secondly, the backblast was quite cool, I had gunpowder on my face, charging handle was covered with soot
and the internals were even worse.
I will only say this - thank a divine power for the chrome lined internals. Everything was literally black, like I was shooting a H&K G3 rifle suppressed for a week without any cleaning...
One day I did search the internet for the experience of suppressing the VZ and how it works out. With that can and that ammo, both Sellier&Bellot 123 grain FMJ and Russian army milsurp, it stings the left ear a bit (support side, actually), due to large gas port and the holes under the piston head. By sting I mean a slight ringing for a few seconds. Subjectivly I would say the M14 with blanks, or a 9 mm pistol is louder. So I could shoot it without any protection if necessary, but I would not do that every time.
I have to think a bit and maybe i could tweak the rifle a bit to get that noise down, origining from the gas holes.
But even with the heavy suppressor the rifle is quite light and easy to carry for prolonged period (say, day or two). Been there and done that already.
