You can use a standard AK side mount base and arm, the ones from K-Var work just fine, all you need to do is cut off 1" from the P-Rail. The forward end of the P-Rail, this is to allow brass to eject without hitting the rail.
I thinking of just using a POSP. That way I don't have a scope, in rings, on mounts, on mounts, and can KISS. Are there any know issues with this setup?

a quad rail that replaces the forearm. That's where you mount an optic.
Not on my rifle. Don't care for EER scopes and despise red dot type optics...I don't like stuff that requires bat trees on my rifle. ;)

Bohemus, that would be da bomb! But where on earth can you get them OTHER than Czechoslovakia?

I have been talking with someone from 'The Gun Expert's' site, I did not see any of those mount/covers on their site. I have an order ready to go, just as soon as it is approved.

I guess you'v answered yourselfs - NOWHERE - order it from gunexpert, the spring cover with rail should be available during second half of 2010. Parcel shipping service from US to CZ works well, i dont see any reason why it shouldnt work the other way;)
I would also like to put it on my Vz.58 (FSN), price should be no more than siderail + work or so they say..
www.sa58.cz

I was thinking about something like this but as common with siderails - scope si to the left side, not for lefties

I notice the optics in the link above have a brass deflector. Are these commercially available, or custom made and installed?

:)
