There's another thread on -protecting- the right to open carry in WA, so rather than hijack it with my naive question, I'll start another thread:
The law here requires that you have a CPL if you carry a concealed pistol, and I've had a CPL for almost the entire time I've lived in WA (about 15 years). Various people and websites have told me that due to the vagaries of the state constitution (that which is not unlawful is lawful) that open carry is completely lawful.
And yet, in my many years here, I've NEVER seen anyone open-carry (except police, military, and security guards). So when people claim open carry is lawful in WA, do they mean "It's lawful and I'm eager for you, Dave, to be the test case but I won't try it myself", or "It's lawful and the local police agree".
What's the -practical- status of open carry in WA?
Thanks!
Dave
