Just qualified for my jagdschein here in Germany so its off to the stadt tomorrow to get my insurance and jagdschein, then apply for my waffenbesitzkart and maybe think about purchasing a rifle and shotgun!

wish I had american prices though, 1,195 euros for a Remington 700 in .308!! with no sight!

Looking forward to getting out and learning a lot more, and maybe getting my first pig!

What are the requirements for a firearm license in Deutschland? Are there different classes? It is kind of hard for me to find actual information. I tried to locate information on Ireland's licensing scheme, but their "police" website is very lacking in any information at all. I have not found any obvious links to any information regarding licensing in Germany.

It is illegeal to hunt witha pistol over here, they are for dispatching game (coup d'gras) and clearing an earth only, must produce 200 joules of energy at the muzzle for this puropse ( i think 9mm qualifies)

in order to geta jagdschein the german hunter must go to night classes, range days, and hunts undewr supervision, take tests, know all about the game, flora and fauna, firearms and ballistics,
takes the average joe around 9 months, or a 3 week intensive course.

once he has this he can get his jagdschein and purchase a weapon and join a hunt

Ok. Family members have said to me that there used to be Jagermeister stands around. They also said that the people would could out every once in awhile for the pigs, but it was a rich man's sport.

Congratulations UK Armourer. Getting a Jagdschein is a big thing. Especially for a non native German speaker, as the course and tests must be taken in German. Alas my German is not good enough so I have to get a fourteen day vistor Jagdschein each time I go. If the German authorities recognise your country's hunting tests, a visitor can get an annual Jagdschein. However, the U.K.'s Deer management Qualifications are not accepted.

I can live with that though and am off again on 21 November to hunt some boar.
