Wait time for C&R?

I sent the paperwork in for my C&R license on 3-August and haven't heard anything from them. What is the "normal" wait time? Should I try contacting BATF?

Mine took almost 3 months to get.

It all depends (if there is nothing to prevent you from getting one) on how willing or able the local AFT processor is. My first one when I lived in SE OH took 1½ weeks, My second in NE OH took about 5 months, IIRC.

Mine took less than a month (sent out in August, received in September).

You've "heard nothing" as in they haven't even cashed your check/run your credit card? That would be unusual, processing the payment is the first thing they do when they get your application, shouldn't take more than 1-1/2 weeks for that. If so they may not have even gotten your application.

If they have processed your payment...judging from posts on surplusrifle.com, the person that handles apps. from Texas seems to take the maximum time allowed. (they also say that sometimes calling and asking speeds it up)

I waited about 3 months before getting a letter asking for more information about a criminal charge (charges dropped). Sent the requested papers about 4 weeks ago, still waiting.

I figure if they haven't said "no", I'm still a candidate.

They ran the credit card 5 days after I mailed it so yes, they definately got the application.

I sent mine off and got a "request for disposition" on a misdemeanor charge I had years ago. Mailed the court stuff to them, got the license a week later.

4 weeks total, even with the disposition delay.

My state contact was cool... I called her I think 3 times, just to see how everything was going and if they got my info OK. She was so nice and helpful I forgot for a second just how crappy the ATF is... I would call and check... they might have lost something. The people answering phones aren't the men in black busting down doors and shooting kids...

Sent mine middle of august, my account was charged a week later, everything arrived middle of october.
