I saw these at Wal-Mart today. The pic sucks, but there is a Colt, Bushmaster, and Sig. The 4th one is a Mossberg .22lr AR.

When did Wal-Mart start selling ARs? I didn't expect this since they are scared to sell handguns.

I've been hearing about it for six months or so. Only in the last couple months have my local Walmarts had ARs. Alas, never a Colt. :cuss:

Looks like an AR-7 there, too!

Mines had em for over a year: Colt 6920, DPMS Sportical, Bushmaster M4A3 patrol carbine, Sig m400, Sig 522, S&W 15-22 just to name what I've seen.

Priced better than big box stores, but the dude behind the counter said what's in case is what's in stock. I don't buy displays, especially from the Mart.

I don't recall seeing any(real) weapons in our local Walmarts since they remodeled them a few years ago. They have a VERY small display(2-3) of Airsoft rifles/pistols. Real ammo is also limited to a very small selection/quanity as well.

I live in South Florida and the local one has the same ( at least the Colt and Bushmaster) for the same price. They usually have 3 total in the case and not the 22lr one. They seem to sell relatively quickly.

Also, they sell such volume of ammo that it is ridiculous. The guy in the sporting goods store said they get in random shipments of ammo daily and it almost always sells out.

Depends on the Walmart. I live in Denver and only a couple of the suburban Walmarts have good selections. IN Denver, fuggedaboutit (I moved from NJ), they'd prefer we didn't have guns at all.

Bought my 6920 here at my Wal-Mart in East Texas about 4 months ago. They can't keep a Colt on the shelf but they do have a Sig or two and a Bushmaster I think.

it's been going on for well over a year. they are usually pretty competetive so it's pretty easy to get an AR for under $600 there.

I just put an Windham weaponry on LAY-AWAY last week they also have the colt LE6920, S&W sport, DPMS in both 223/556 and in 308 thinking of putting one of the 308's on LAY-AWAY too:D

Did something recently change, as Walmarts don't do layaway on anything until Xmas, and even then it's only toys and electronics.

Yeah, Walmart at Porter, northeast of HOuston , always has them in stock since January.

Yes the Walmarts in these parts have started their Lay-Away back in sporing goods on rifles, with 180 day layaways with just 10% down plus I get the Daughters discount of 10%

Nothing wrong with the walmart rifles. Same as if you bought them elsewhere but at a lower price. I purchased my SIG522 there. It came with the heavy barrel upgrade, hand guard rail kit, and iron sights. Usually the sig 522 comes bare bones...no sights or rail kit. Just saying. The heavy barrel usually only comes in a 2 barrel combo kit, only Walmart offers them setup with it right out of the box.

Tell that to the 10/22 I inspected with a rusted bore. Never had that happen anywhere else.

Don't know that the setup you bought is worth $200 more than what I payed for my Classic. I know what they cost, and the extras weren't worth it.

As for the ARs, barring a positive inspection, I'd buy one.

Politics aside, Wal-Mart is in the business of making money. Guns are selling right now, so they ar selling them too. Only makes sense.

Colts at Walsmart!? Wow. How will the upscale Target compete!? Surprised they have such a high quality AR there when they could be selling just $800 or so AR's which may be quality as well.

Watch your lane.

I'm pretty certain no Walmart in the lower 48 has sold handguns in over a decade.

None of mine have any firearms. :(

My dad swears the Walmart in Farmville VA sells handguns...I've never heard of that...

Never heard of that too!!

A number of years ago, before they started taking the guns out of the stores, Wal-Mart was the largest seller of retail long guns in the United States. Even if you put the major big box sporting goods stores together, Wal-Mart out sold all of them put together on long guns. If they didn't have it on the shelf, their catalog was over 4 inches thick, and you would have your purchase in the store within 7 days. (that's how large their warehouse inventory was.)

I bought 3 rifles from them that way and 2 right off the shelf.
