The other day me and the misses were grocery shopping at the Wal-mart supercenter in Conway which is about 10 miles from my home town. While inside I noticed a pyramid of bulk boxes of buckshot and slugs (15 rd Remington) but no price. I meant to get one of those pimply faced "Associates" to get me a price, but my attention was turned away and I clean forgot to get a price. Realized this on the drive home. So today I call the Wal-mart and asked one of the pimply faced "stock boys" what the price of the 15 rnd. bulk buckshot and slugs cost and he promply tells me "$4.88. I said,"Say what?", check that to be sure there sport. He does and tells me ,"$4.88" but they are selling quick. I rush back to Conway to purchase as much as they had, ran into the sports section and grabbed all that I could carry, about 20 bulk packs. Go to check out, and they ring up at $7.36 each. Can you imagine the let down. Like letting the air out of a tire. I went back to talk to the "associate", but he had already left and another pimply faced kid was there. I asked him how much for the bulk pack buckshot and slugs and he tells me, are you ready?, $5.49. What the hell is going on in the heads of the youth of today? Anything? I just left with some federal .22 shells, which I knew were $9.88.
I feel better now. I just had to bitch and moan abit. Thanks for listening:banghead:

Yep, its easier to just give an answer and get rid of you than having to actually know what is going on.

In the old days, the store would have had to honor what the "sales representative" had represented as the price. But I guess those are bygone days as well, as Wal-mart figures you'd come back for something else anyway.

next time, get the kids name, when they screw up the price call the CSM over and tell them that kid said the price was X... if they will not sell it at that price you call the Store manager, if the manager will not let you have the price the kid told you then report them to corporate...

As you're walking out, hit the customer service desk. Get the 800 number for corporate and their store ID. Had to do it myself today - waited 40 minutes for someone "authorized" to ring me up a box of 12 ga.

Anyway, crying aside, corporate *does* take notice of these things. Call up, be courteous, file a complaint.

and as I said before in another thread - a simple, quiet "where can I find your immediate supervisor" is great both for getting problems solved and causing minor heart attacks :p

Highland Ranger, have you ever tried to buy ammo at the self checkouts? You still have to wait on an "authorized" associate to either come key a code in at your station, or the master station in front of the self checkout line.

You want it cheap and you don't care where it comes from or what they have to do to get your prices lower. So, you get crappy service because they can't pay a mature adult to work for peanuts and help keep the prices low.

You're getting what you ask for when you shop at Wal-Mart.

I don't think he's talking about the self-checkouts. I think he's talking about the two dozen or so price scanners scattered throughout the store that will tell you the price the item will actually ring up as.

I went to Wally World the other day to get a pin for my watch band so I would know when to go home from the range. The installed the pin and didn't charge me anything.

They didn't mess up because they were a kid, but because its just another product some person is asking about. I'm sure if you got a kid who was into shooting sports and hunting and he would be on top of everything...

Blame Wallyworld not youths!

This made me chuckle a bit.
Didja ever think that if you had not "forgot' while you were there none of this would have ever happened?
"Not my fault" sound familiar?
I do understand your frustration. Wally's and the big home improvement stores can drive ya nuts sometimes.

WOW!!! Sic Em , I could a say a lot more but would rather be polite to a "guest" in my country.
Could perhaps cost a guy a job he really needs over a mistake.

Still true in other sectors. I recently had to carry a very expensive E&O Bond (Errors and Ommissions) on my work in case what I represented was not true.

El Tejon is right. We need a separate WalMart forum.

That, or a complete ban on any thread that contains the string "Wal" and "Mart" anywhere near eachother.

Really?... hmm, well lucky for me yesterday I picked up 5 boxes of .223, 4 of them were 55gr, one was 45gr... the "Pimple-faced Associate" asked me if I meant to get one of the 45gr boxes, or was it a mistake... It was a mistake on my part, the associate asked if I wanted them to get someone in sporting goods to run up to the front with another 55gr box and exchange it...

I think it really depends on the people at your local store, the ones in our local stores seem to be more than willing to go out of their way to help...

and the local mom & pop doesn't carry Remington .223 for $6.47 a box....

Oh, Look, A Wal*Mart Thread!

Y'know, it's not like that hasn't been discussed.

We're actually looking for a "Topic-Specific Booby Trap" for the forum, based on the new TCP/IP "Firestarter" protocol.

So, if y'all will pardon my intrusion, I'll be turning out the lights on this one.
