Walk me through what i need to do to get a Garand from CMP?

Okay, i remember reading it before and thinking "wow thats cool", but now i actually want one. I don't know what was wrong with me before. Can someone walk me through the steps or point me toward a link. For some reason I can't find it anymore. What organizations qualify for the CMP deal? Do i have to be a member if i drive up and buy one in person? Can i have it that day? Do i get to pick?
Please help, I can no longer find the info.

It's mainly a mail-order process. If you want to drive to Ohio, you can pick one out at the North Store and buy it. You still need to fulfill the requirements as stated in the link above.

As far as the club requirements go, you don't have to necessarily join a active shooting club. It can be as easy as joining your state rifle association (NRA doesn't count) or what a lot of people do is join the Garand Collector's Association for $25. You get a quarterly magazine too.

Membership in American Legion or VFW satisfies org. req. C & R license satisfies marksmanship req.

If you visit Camp Perry, you can fill out the forms, show the required proof of citizenship and marksmanship, join the Grand Collector's Ass'n and they have Notarty Publics at the store. Just bring the docs and your credit card or cash.

Once you drive to the store and join, you can wander through the racks and pick your favorite rifle; or up to 12 of your favorites! There are volunteers there to help with your selection(s), they have muzzle and throat gauges to check out the barrel condition, and if you ask nice, they may even bring you a better rifle from the back rooms!
