Walmart not carrying Ruger?

I have seen Ruger 10/22 in the racks at different Walmarts as I have traveled. I normal go by the gun desks to see if any of the clearance rifles are on display.

I feel bad for those that live in areas where Walmart is the only choice for miles and miles around. I've been avoiding the place for a couple decades now, but I have the luxury of many other options.
I can't remember ever buying a gun (or much of anything else for that matter) from Walmart. And I'll admit I haven't read every post in this thread, but I'd been looking for a Ruger "American Rimfire" .22 with a composite stock for my wife's birthday for a couple of months before I ran across one like she wanted in Sportsman's Warehouse last week. Besides, I had 2 LGSs that we frequent tell me they couldn't find what I was looking for from any of their suppliers. So I'm guessing that it isn't just Walmart having problems getting Rugers.

On the other hand, the LGSs I looked in had plenty of Ruger 10-22s in stock. They just didn't have the Ruger "American Rimfire" .22s with composite stocks like I was looking for. So I didn't hesitate to buy the one I spotted in Sportsman's Warehouse. My wife is going to have a Happy Birthday come Saturday - she'd been considering one of those little .22 rifles since we were acting as ground-squirrel exterminators over on a friend's ranch last spring - just before covid and the riots hit. She should have bought one at that time. But then I wouldn't have been able to surprise her with one for her birthday. So it all worked out.;)

Glad you found your wife's birthday present. I bet she's gonna really like that Ruger American .22. Sometimes the LGS's and the big retailers may or may not have the same stuff. It's all in the supply chain, which is different for the smaller shops. They get their guns from wholesalers that have warehouses and sometimes even after the manufacturer can't provide what someone wants the wholesalers may still have a bunch of it in the warehouses. Few years ago I wanted a certain model of a CZ-455 in 22LR but found out it had been discontinued a few months ago. Then a month later a bunch of CZ-455's showed up at a LGS including 2 or 3 of the exact model I wanted. LGS told me that their distributor still had some in stock. So even after the manufacturer says they have none there may still be some out there in the supply chain someplace.

On my last trip to Wal Mart I found 2 boxes of Federal 12 gauge buck shot, but there were no Ruger's in their racks.

It's possible there were some in the back. I'll have to ask to see their stock book someday (that's if they still let customers look at it).

For the longest time they had a Henry Big Boy in 44 mag on display but didn't sell any ammo for it
