Following the directions of the MFR, the pistol I received will not disassemble.
From the Walther manual:
Press the takedown lever down and cock the hammer. Fully retract the slide, lift its rear section and push slide forward off the receiver. Remove guidance rod. Assembly of the gun is in reverse order.
When I do this, the slide will not lift at the rear.

Any insight and/or assitance would be greatly appreciated.

I haven’t dug my older P22 out of the gun cabinet yet to run thru it’s breakdown, but here’s a YouTube link on field strip and reassembly - it’s not a slick video production but he notes a couple of minor issues not usually explained.

At the video’s 0:50-to-1:05 time mark, the slide is removed.

Hope that helps.

(For reassembly there are different ways to get the recoil-spring-guide-rod back in place than what’s shown there)

Thanks for sharing. Informative information although I have no troubles cleaning and stripping my P22. Mine works real well and I'm feeding it a steady diet of CCI Stingers and Federal Punch ammo.

It's suppose to like HV ammo but also shoots CCI Mini Mags real well. DSC_7503_0175.jpg

There is a trick to it. You have to pull the slide back slightly farther than it does when firing. The barrel is semi-fixed to the frame, so you are essentially pulling slide off around it instead of it coming out together with a normal handgun. Use the grooves the safety rides in to give you some gripping area for your thumb and finger. You can get more traction if you get an overhand grip on the front of the slide too.

Yes, got this from the manual, too.
After cussing this thing for a couple attempted cleaning sessions I finally rapped the take-down thingamajig with a plastic mallet in the direction it is supposed to move. Must have got its attention because I was able to get it to move its full travel and take-down was accomplished. The little guy got his pre-first firing clean and lube with little trouble. Off to the range today and 1 FTE (stovepipe) out of 150 rounds - 1st magazine. 50 rounds each of SK High Velocity, Aguila SE, Eley Target.
Certainly not target accuracy, but a fun little plinker, for sure!

I want to thank everyone for their assistance. I just really hesitate to use a hammer or mallet on any firearm. But that's what this one needed, I guess.
