Not me ~ that guy is impressive with a P38/P1. Shows that old is not always obsolete.

I have a post war Manurhin P-1 that was formerly used by the West Berlin Police. Extremely reliable with a heavy DA trigger and a surprisingly light SA pull, accuracy is decent enough for most field applications. Always a fun gun for plinking and light target with.

"I had a high rise "pancake" style holster made for it and it carries well. Its lighter than my other full size autos ~ so it gets carried quite a bit. I've had no problems with concealing it, the holster has a lot to do with that.

Where did yu get the holster, and how can I get one? I am having a hard time finding a holster for either open or concealed carry for both my P1 and Makarov. I have the leather military holster, but that is just impracticle unless you are on guard duty.

I just bought an unissued P1 with the BW on the slide and all the final improvements, specifically to shoot, carry, admire, talk about - and it delivers on all tasks. It's as accurate as my 6" 686 to 75 ft or so, haven't had it outdoors yet. I find the safety super easy to flick when unholstering the gun, but I was used to a PA-63 (PP copy). It racks easy, strips easy, cleans easy - and built like a tank. Racking one into the chamber makes me want to say "pull".

In the post-war Walther owner's manual for the P-38/P-1, it is advised that when using the decocker the thumb is used to slowly lower the hammer.

Can't help you with a P1, but Makarov holsters are easy to find. Look for a holster for a Walther PPK, Kahr K9/K40, Bersa Thunder, or BDA. All will fit the Mak.

I have a nice p1 I carry in a Bianchi military pistol that I recall is the same one for a 1911. I took the flap off the holster and use the accessory thumb break.

The DA pull stinks, but SA is great and the guns is as reliable as any other 9mm I have.

Any walther smiths out there who would work on the da pull?

Nebraska_farmer, WWII P38s have a manufacturer's code on the left side of the slide. Usually two lines. Top line letter, bottom line numbers. I have a AC/42 which was the code for the Walther plant, and made in 1942. As WWII progressed and the Germans factories got bombed the quality of their arms went down hill. The finish got rougher and the slave laborers sabotaged what they could.
I would not shoot late war production YMMV.

I have an all steel P38 with no making on the right side and the Walther logo on the left side with the Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm.Do. on the slide right side. On the frame right side in front of the trigger it has 14xx with a very light proof mark and BH. Anyone know anything about these?
