So I decided to load one of my Walther p99 magazines with full capacity of 15 rds (it came with 2 15 round mags). Usually at the range I only put in 10 rounds, dont ask me why, just something I do. While loading when I get past the 10th round I can hear a rattle in the magazine (both mags) and when I get all 15 in the magazine and try to insert it into the gun, it will not fit all the way (I cant budge it past the mag release). I mean I can live with only loading 14 in the magazine, but still just kinda stumped. I dont want to slap it or slam it in there. I know I am going to contact Walther but wanted to see if any else has had this problem. thank you

This is normal. Sometimes if does it, and sometimes it does not. If I take 1 out, mine does not rattle.

The S&W mags for the SW99 - which also work in the P99) are 16 round mags, and they do not do this for some reason.

It does not affect reliability. And, you will get used to it.

I have owned a few other brands of handguns over the years that did this too.

This issue has been talked about in the past at the Walther Forum website

Thank you for the info and help guys.

I found some pro mags for the P99, I have heard differing reviews on these, but cheap and easily used for taking to the range.

Do yall think that maybe the walther p99 magazines tend to act funny after the 10th round b/c they are converted 10 round magazines to 15 round magazines. For me, I noticed its really really easy to load the first 10 then it gets really hard to load in the rest, and after the 10th round the rattling starts up. This might explain why there seems to be an inconsistency with their 15 round magazines and why one of my magazines can take 15 rounds but cannot fit into the gun b/c once the 15th round is in, their is no more room in the magazine to be pushed down and allowing the clearance needed to be inserted in the pistol with the bolt closed. And why the other one barely has enough room after the 15th round to push down and make clearance enough to be inserted in the gun.

I dunno just been thinking
