Excellent gun. Insanely accurate.
I bought one of the QA models in .40 cal., kept it a week and traded it in on an XD45. The biggest complaint was the trigger would pinch my finger when it broke. I guess my trigger finger was too big and overlapped the bottom of the trigger causing it to be pinched between the trigger and the trigger gaurd.
I think one of the ones with the "two stage" SA/DA models would be a lot better.

When I got mine, it was just P99. None of this "AS" stuff you see today.

I have a full size AS in .40 and a compact QA in 9mm. I also have the Smith version in .45 and the compact in 9mm. They are all guns that I wouldn't part with, very, very accurate, reliable, outstanding ergonomics and great triggers (even the QA). The Smith .45 version is a real sleeper and the only game if you wish to have a P99 style .45. Like the 9mm it is a very smooth gun.

I like the gun overall. The gun fits the hand very well, the decocker is placed out of the way, and the trigger reset is very, very short. But, the slack is a little too long for my taste, and the AS for the single action is a little annoying for shooting at the range.
Overall however, it's a great gun, one that I would have no problem recommending to friends. If it wasn't for James Bond, well... it's still an underrated pistol.

Love my P99QA, trigger has a longish stroke but breaks cleanly. It just digests ANY ammo I throw at it. I've nerver had a jam since day one with it.
Easy to clean, mags are available, and it points like on e of my fingers.

I had bought one because it was one of the most comfortable pistols I had ever held. I bought the newer model. The pictures on this thread are the older models because they have the hump at the botton inside of the trigger guard.
That being said, I hated the way that stupid gun shot. I was all over the paper and couldn't get a solid group. I'm no competition shooter, but I can get nice groups somewhere on the target. Thought it might just be me getting used to the trigger since mine was the QA model. My best friend is a range officer for the state highway patrol and I let him shot it. He wasn't any better and recommended I send it back to the factory and let them test it, so I did. They had the gun for 6 months and finally sent it back to me and said there's nothing wrong with it and sent me the target that they "shot" to provide it. Bullet holes in the target weren't anywhere near the size of a .40 which is what mine was. More likely it was a 9 or even a 38. But I sold it quick as I could. I'll never own a Walther again in my life. It sure looked awesome and felt awesome, but shot like crap and the factory service is more than questionable.

I've shot a P99 (A/S trigger system) belonging to a friend. It didn't really do anything for me, but it did at least go bang every time. The DA-first-shot mode had an extremely long stroke, and the placement of the decocker is odd. The first shot of the A/S mode (very long, light takeup with a vague-feeling break at the end) also felt odd. I find the CZ's decocker system - with its intuitively placed lever and short DA trigger stroke - much more comfortable and natural to use. If I want a short-stroke DAO, I already have a Glock and M&P.

I have a AC P99 in 40S&W. Love it. Incredibly accurate. Extremely reliable. Easy to take down and reassemble. Ergonomics are fantastic.
Plus a marvelous striker-fired DA/SA.
I'd highly recommend to anyone.

It's funky, and weird, but I do like it a lot. Mine is in .40 S&W and if I had it to do over, I would have gone 9mm. Not just to save money, but in .40 it's got more kick to it than any other gun I own, poly or steel.

I've got two of them, the P99 AS model and the P99C, also in the AS format. It would be difficult (and expensive) to find a better 9mm handgun. The guns are forever reliable, wonderfully accurate, and fit the hand perfectly (thanks to the interchangable backstrap). Don't leave home without one.

Pointless to add another positive to this post, but I'll do it anyway.
My PPS AS, in .40 S&W, is the best semi-auto I've owned or shot.
The longish double action is easy to hit with if you practice, and it makes for safe carry. Single action is perfect.
The only "problem" I have with the P99 is that it makes all my other semi-autos obsolete.
