i got this today. have not shot it. It's slightly used. It's purty in person and takedown is really easy.

Even with the longer tang, it doesn't look bad at all. I always liked the stainless look and would have preferred it to my blued one, but mine is an awesome shooter. I don't know why S&W was having all those problems with the PPK/s. Just copy the design and exact tolerances. Seems a lot of people were unhappy with their S&W PPK/s pistols for quite some time. Hopefully, they got all of that worked out by now.

The problem with S&W guns is called MIM parts and quality control issues. These guns need good quality parts like the germans and the french built. You can't build these old designed guns like they build Sigma's, they need hand fitting with good forged parts. S&W tried to get away with cheaping out the gun with MIM and Cast parts and they all went back.

What's wrong with MIM parts? My Kimbers have them and have been ticking along just fine. And I shoot them a LOT...never a problem.

Just a bunch of hype the same as when people freaked out about "plastic" guns and how they'd melt or crack if left in a hot car.

What's wrong with MIM parts. What do you think will hold up better? Cast, MIM cast, or forged parts. Also, which would you prefer in your guns. I would pick an older S&W 36 or Older Colt revolver over anything MIM or cast built today. I have owned a usa made 380 ppk with Mim parts and had parts breakages and numerous problems. I have a freind who works for S&W and we talked about this issue at length, regarding the ppk walthers and the parts breakages I had with my 380. He honestly thought they would build the guns without MIM parts and he was disappointed to find they made the guns with MIM. MIM are ok for certain parts but some firearms were designed for forgings not cast or mim. MIM parts seems to break without notice.

Let me clarify, I own many guns with MIM parts, but I prefer forged. Some MIM parts that are done correctly, can work very well. I just want to say that the Walther ppk design was built around good quality parts and that has changed. Maybe S&W needs to check how well their MIM parts are made. The german ppk and the french manuhin ppk made guns are a work of art. Ruger has been using cast firearms and parts for years and their products have been great but they do overbuild their guns.

I purchased a S&W ppk/s from Dixie Ammo Dump last week for a great price. Previous use had consisted of 2 mags of ammo. It still had hang tag string on it.
Dixie Dump also included about 15 Hollow PT's and about 40 Blazer FMJ. I had on hand some Prvi and Lellier & Belloit (sic maybe). In all, I shot 250 rounds through this little marvel in about an hour.
1. The gun is extremely accurate. For sure the easiest to aim 380 I own and I own 4 (bersa thunder, LCP, and a CZ52). Recoil is about what you should expect from a 380 - not bad. After all ammo was gone, I had a slight skin rub above the center of the webbing between my thumb and forefinger. No 'bites' whatsoever. I was shocked. This version of the gun is not supposed to 'rock' like this. But it ROCKS!. It 'could' replace my Kahr PM9 as my primary carry pistol. It ate ammo like it had not eaten in years. I got the thing boiling hot and fired it as fast as i could. I fired it for precision, and it was precise. I think I got a great deal. So if you want a great deal, give DIXIE AMMO DUMP a call. They just might have something for you. I'm not affiliated with them. But they sold me a winner! I did have one instance of the gun not chambering a round, but it was my first mag and I didn't get it locked. I remember reading now that it can happen if you're not paying attention. And I was more interested in getting shooting than listening to clicks. I've got 3 Smith and Wesson's and they are all great!

Just to Karma the above rave, both my Tauruses have had to go back to the shop. One is back and in perfect working order, I assume the
other will too (sloppy screw tightening at the factory).

Sorry to put a review in here, but my Smith/Walther is sweet.

m2steven, just curious... If your PM9 is good and reliable, why "could you" replace it with something much larger and heavier which shoots a weaker round? Yes, the PM9 has one less round with the flush fit magazines, but I'll take 6+1 of +p 9mm over 7+1 rounds of .380 any day. Plus, that first DA trigger pull SUCKS! Can't carry it "locked and cocked", either, for a SA first shot as you have to manually cock the hammer.

It points and aims so well and gets back on target a bit quicker. Plus, it's just plain good looking. But it will probably not replace my 9mm on a regular basis. It's the only 380 i've got that I would carry on a regular basis however aside from my LCP which is just so small that you can carry it in your boxer shorts. I tend to carry guns that I shoot. I'll probably shoot this Walther a lot as I do my Kahr. Familiarity breeds use with firearms..
