Walther PPQ

The only difference between the PPQ M1 and the PPQ M2 is the magazine release. The M1 uses a paddle release built into the trigger guard whereas the M2 uses a more traditional button release.
 
Is the trigger the same? I know the m2 supposedly has a beyond fantastic trigger.
 
Trigger is the best I have found in a striker-fired gun. As to reliability, I have an issue with my M2. It goes full-auto for 2-3 rounds occasionally. Contacted Walther and will be sending it in for a checkup. Other than that, it feels and shoots great. Hopefully it will be an easy and quick fix and I'll be up and running with it again soon. I have seen one or two comments on a similar problem on other forum pages, so hope it's a known fix at Walther.
 
I am a member of the Walther forum and check the PPQ section often. First I have ever heard of a PPQ going "full auto".

I have read about quite a few users doing unintentional double and even a few triple taps while first getting used to their new PPQ, especially if they did not have a good grip on it, with it's very short reset and crisp trigger. It happened to my Son the first time he tried my PPQ.
 
Ive heard the unintentional doubletap also. Are you sure thats not whats happening?

Full auto wouldnt be so bad in a way:)

You obviously haven't fired a Walther P99AS.

That said, the PPQ definitely has the second-best trigger of any striker-fired pistol.
 
I've had inadvertant double taps while shooting my PPQ. The trigger resets too quick and is too light at the reset point, IMHO. I've read many other reports of this happening, so it isn't just me. This makes the PPQ, or rather the PPQ's trigger less than perfect for carry or duty. Otherwise it's a great gun.

I agree with you about have ever heard of a PPQ going "full auto". However here is an unintentional double taps issue discussion
 
My wife has one and loves it. I try not to shoot it very often as it makes the triggers on my other guns very jealous.

She also had a couple of double taps early in the relationship but things have quieted down since the early excitement.
 
the trigger is one of the best that I have tried & shot it breaks the same every time I fire it, it does takes a few rounds until you get used to the pull almost immediate, very easy to get double taps at first.
 
Been shooting my first two PPQ's since 2011, training, practice and competition. Got. A third PPQM1 this past January. They have replaced my four HK P30's one of which us a P30L, and all my HK's have/use the LEM trigger. That includes my SK, 45/45c's and USP too.

As to the PPQ going full auto, the two times I have ever had that happen to me, was not one of my own 23 1911's, but issue 1911A1's.

I have not seen any guns only double or triple, etc... With out doing a complete magazine dump. Of course if there are only a couple or so round in the mag when it happens, such is life. If it is the gun you should be able to consistantly have another competent shooter duplicate it first with one round, looking for what in a hammer gun would be called hammer follow. With a striker variant I would only use 2 rounds in the gun. Be careful and aware.

I would not carry that gun until cleared by a gunsmith or Walther.

Thanks, ScarLata, for the link, and to the rest of you for the input. I'm far from a noob with handguns, but willing to say I may be wrong thinking it's a defect with the gun. I've never had an unintentional double (or triple) tap with any gun before, but no other gun had this trigger. Coincidentally, just recently I had a friend do a couple of unintentional doubles with a Sig P238, which has otherwise worked flawlessly. So, I think I'll take the PPQ back out and carefully experiment with the reset, loading 2 or 3 at a time in the mag. Maybe it is just a matter of working with the gun until I know it better. Hope so. Thanks for the learning opportunity.
 
When I fired a range rental PPQ a few weeks ago I accidentally bump fired it once. I agree with the others that the trigger needs to be learned.

Took me awhile to come back to this thread for some reason but yes they magazines are very different because of button vs paddle release. The M2 magazines use a red follower, the M1 uses blue followers. You can also use P99AS magazines in a PPQ M1. Funnily enough Magnum Research Fast Action magazines are also compatible with P99AS and PPQ M1.
 
I am waiting for their new CCP to unveil itself to decide if it will be adequate to do both jobs, although I don't need another carry gun. I also don't need anything in reality, but I could justify it if it served both purposes, more than another midsize 9mm striker gun.

Yeah I think Germany police departments require a first trigger pull of upwards near ten pounds, that's why most carry da/sa sigs or hk's or p99's decocked. I could be wrong about that though as I vaguely remember reading that somewhere. If that is the case though there is many other firearms not approved for duty carry over there. I also thought there where some special units over there that carry the ppq. I love mine and once you master the trigger they are very accurate and just as safe as any other gun
 
I have a very smooth and light triggered PPQ-not a gritty one.

That said, I don't know how you would double tap.

I shot a Taurus 24/7 G2 along side my PPQ. The difference was extreme. Unlike the PPQ, the G2 does not have a physical *CLICK* when resetting and reset sooner.

What I mean to say, the CLICK kinda throws your finger forward. You have to overcome that to double tap...which is pretty hard.
