I did a search and could not find the information I was looking for. Maybe you guys can help me out here...

I'm interested in buying a PPS, possibly in .40s&w. However, all the places online that have them for sale don't specify how many magazines come with it, and also which type of magazine (ie flush-fitting, pinky extension, etc) comes with it. More specifically, I'm looking at buying from Buds. If I buy the .40 from Buds, what kind and how many magazines will I receive with it?

Also, how's the recoil with this thing in .40s&w? I'm not particularly recoil-sensitive, but some guns are just plain nasty when chambered in .40s&w. FWIW, I have a P2000sk chambered in 9mm, which I carry right now. I love it, but thought the PPS would be a nice addition to the carry rotation incase I feel like carrying something even thinner/lighter. I have no way of borrowing or renting one to try out, so I can only go off of what you guys have to say! Thanks in advance!

I have the .40

I have the .40 and love it.. as much as I "shop around" for new guns, I have never even thought of another carry gun since i bought the pps. it shoots so well it's one of my favorites to shoot at the range..

the ONLY downside i've found so far is that it did only come with one mag and the additional ones are very expensive...

regarding the .40's recoil... i don't have a 9mm, but i can tell you that to me the recoil was no more than my significantly larger P226 sig in .40.. VERY manageable...

I have the 9mm and love it. Haven't shot the PPS in .40 but generally don't care for the snappy recoil of the .40 in general. I prefer the short, 6-round, magazine that fits flush with the bottom of the grip; about the same profile as a j-frame Smith. Like Ian's Dad said, it is also one of my favorite guns at the range. It is so thin it feels a little awkward at first, but the trigger gets really smooth after a few hundred rounds, the sights are very good, and it has been 100% reliable for me.

They only come with 1 mag! And its EXPENSIVE, ~$40. My friend bought a PPS 9mm a couple months ago and still can't find any extra mags, even from Walther. They subcontract the mags out to some other company and are forever on back order. They weight about the same as a Glock 23, so I wouldn't think they are too jumpy.

The answer will depend on where you buy it, and how long it's been in the gun shop. Walther is now issuing its guns with but one magazine, following a recent industry trend. But some gun shops have some models in stock that have been on the shelves or in the back rooms for some time, and some of these will have two mags in them. I recently picked up a NIB Walther PPS .40 S&W from a small shop in the central part of the state, and it came with two magazines. It was a pleasant surprise. I talked with the owner about it, and he said that it would be dishonest on his part to increase the price he charged ($589) because the gun came equipped with a second mag when he got it. If you can find one of these, great. If not, one it is ... and the second mags can be a bit on the pricey side and sometimes hard to find. Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys!

I'll probably go with the .40. Maybe I'll shop around at the local gun shops first in hopes of finding one with two mags. As for the mag prices, I'm used to buying mags for my H&Ks, so expensive mags are nothing new to me. It still sucks that they are shipping with one mag though. Who's to blame for this "trend?" Sig Sauer, perhaps? BS is what it is...

Thanks again!

The look really cool and I've heard nothing but good stuff about the way they shoot. I handled one yesterday and might buy one if it continues to grow on me. But in 9mm.

Gunbroker has mags every time I look. They are a little expensive, but one guy sells two 5 rounders for $50 together, doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. As far as the PPS, it's a great gun. I have the .40 version and the recoil isn't very bad at all.

nice pic mm6!

The only experience I've had with Walther was a P99 A/S .40 a few years back. I sold it because I wanted it in 9mm, but came across the .40 first. It was definitely a quality gun and was 100% reliable for the 200 rounds I put through it before I sold it. The only real problem I had with the gun were the sights. Besides not being dovetailed into the slide, there were no aftermarket night sights available at that time from any of the popular night sight manufacturers. I'm worried the PPS will suffer from this same exact problem.

Does anyone know if Meprolight or XS have plans to make night sights for the PPS?
