News to me....but thanks for correcting me. It must be pre-cocked or something, is it only the P99AS as I've not noticed this, or tested it, for that matter on my PPQ.

"Most" striker fired don't have second strike capability.

Edit: I just verified on my pistol and the PPQ does not have this capability, are you sure the P99 is striker fired?

The P99 AS is stiker-fired and has a second (third, fourth, ...) strike capability. It's a SA/DA pistol. The button on the slide decocks the stiker for a first DA shot. So it's basically like the hammer-fired SIG-Sauer SP2022 or the CZ P-01 in handling. I like my P99 AS very much.

I like the slide release better on the PPQ in contrast to the hard to operate SIG style release on the P99AS.

Newer P99AS pistols have the same ambidextrous slide release as the PPQ.

Though the original style works just as well as the new, unless you are left-handed.

In response to the previous questions, the P99AS is striker-fired, and it does have 2nd-strike capability.

Kinda. The P99 has always been available as a "Night Defense Kit" version which included night sites, long slide release, and ambi slide release.

Gen 3's still have the small release. You have to find one with the long /ambi release.

Yes. You can never deactivate the striker on the P99AS. The AS is meant to mimic a hammer fired. Each and every trigger pull will release the striker. It always reverts to double action when single action doesn't work or if the trigger is pulled on empty.
