i'm think about getting another handgun. i got my eyes on the springfield 1911a1 mil spec model. my friend said save the money and get a better one like kimber. i've seen kimbers and they are excellent guns and love the finish however i don't want to spend a ton of money on a handgun. any suggestions or recommendation? i know this is a very popular design, will a lot of the other brand parts work for it? i just like the stock look maybe a skeletonize trigger and hammer.

nice, rare to find something like that used around here. i recon this gun from swat, watched a clip about it with the lapd on youtube.

wow this is really nice, my budget is about $600 but i see you can get these for just a little over $700 nib. not bad. i like the sound of adjustable sights. i don't like the front groves on the slide anyhow...

Two days ago I purchased a new Springfield Armory 1911A1 GI model. Today I put a total of 55 rounds through it using three different mags and it worked flawlessly. My cast bullet loads included 36 round nose bullets and 19 SWC bullets. It ate both bullet designs with equal reliability.

The dealer had at least one more NIB at $529.95 plus tax.

Yes, slightly used Colt 1991's recent vintage do about $600 used. I picked one up late winter and it has been a joy (2007 build Commander, blue). Totally reliable, accurate, great sights and accuracy. And Colt's just feel better. I ran through a lot of 1911 brands before I got my first true Colt (though I grew up shooting my "family" ones), and dang if I didn't waste a lot of time. The stock 1991 commander needed nothing - good sights, nice grip safety, excellent trigger. Just $600 and it shoots almost as well as my high dollar customs.
