Ok, maybe not that special, but I'm making up 20 rounds of .30-06 using the black Winchester/Nosler 180gr Combined Technologies Ballistic Silvertips. These bullets are going into Winchester nickel-plated brass, if only because they look so darned good and weather the elements nicely. Problem is, I only have 16 pieces of the Winchester Nickel brass. :(

So if anybody out there in THR land has about 4-6 pieces of the same Winchester .30-06 nickel-plated brass in good condition, I'll be more than happy to trade an even number, or more, of commercial or Lake City .30-06 brass in return. I also have Lake City 7.62mm NATO brass, or commercial .308 brass, or .303 British, .30-30 Winchester, .223 Remington, .45 ACP, some of the short magnums, and so forth. I just want to make an even box of 20 rounds for my cold-weather trip into the Wisconsin woods with my 1903A4. Anybody have a few pieces they can spare?

Oh darn... I only have three...:D I have five Speer though. If you don't let anyone see the case heads they won't know the difference...:D

Wonder if I can put 3 Winchester nickle .30-06 cases in an envelope. I bet one of those padded ones would work.:scrutiny: But where to send them...:uhoh:

PM sent.

Let me know if you need postage covered, replacement brass, etc. ;)

If you want more, try e-bay. There's usually a lot of brass there for sale.

Of course, you could do the wild and crazy thing and just buy 20 more rounds of factory ammo

Yup, I knew that.

But I already had the better part of 20 pieces from range pick-up brass over the years. And I didn't really consider using the stuff until I got those beautiful black Winchester/Nosler CT bullets. Otherwise, I've got thousands of pieces of non-nickel .30-06 brass, so why would I ever buy any? ;)

Thanks again, Bushmaster!

I've got some, but they're in .300 WM You're right. Once they're loaded they kinda look like a work of art.

OK, a redneck work of art:D

I don't feel so alone anymore. I loaded 20 Combined Technologies fail safe 165gr.hp's in Fed. Premium ni/clad brass fueled with varget last year.I thought they were good looking rounds,I bet those silver tips look great.
Art form or state of the art these loads shot great in my Colt sporter.Recoil was kinda like a friend slugging you in the shoulder.

They look gorgeous.

And I want to thank The Bushmaster and Dave P for their generous contributions. My 1903A4 thanks them, too!

Pictures of assembled rounds to follow.

I've also got pictures of the same bullets before and after they took out a Montana mule deer. Impressive, about 90% weight retention with excellent expansion. :D

Beautiful ammo, and it'll perform well, too!

I also loaded the same 180gr Winchester/Nosler Combined Technology Silvertips in nickel .308 Winchester brass, for use in my Remington 700PSS. Here's the full batch of 20 .30-06 rounds, with 5 rounds of .308 for comparison:

I don't trust the nickel plated brass for more than the factory load, and then two reloads. It sure is nice in bad weather, though.

Those are some awfuly sinister looking cartridges. Send the pics to someone with photoshop experience and see those turn into some truly evil looking artilery shells.
