So I decided I wanted a DMR-type AR, ideally one that could shoot both "good enough" with surplus ammo and lights out with match ammo.

A few weeks later, LMT delivers this:

I installed an AR Gold trigger, a Burris XTR II 3-15 mildot in a Larue mount, some Troy BUIS, and one of my home made Rhodesian slings. And it shoots like this:

Those are 50y groups - I like to be able to see what's happening without a spotting scope. All the FGMM groups are touching except for one flier, and the one I've got the calipers on, where I was super-careful after I got zeroed, is less than 1/2 MOA. That group is 77gr. FGMM as well. Even the M193 groups are about 1.5MOA, which is perfectly adequate for field shooting. Note that I did mess with the zero somewhat, so don't be alarmed that groups for the same ammo don't overlap.

No real effort, no handloading, just buy a rifle and you can expect it to shoot lights out - a 1/2 MOA auto. We live in a marvelous age :D

Too true!

The firearms, the ammunition and the optics available at reasonable prices in general but particularly with regards to quality, really is something these days.

Todd.

So that's the look of todays rifles.

Each to his own.

It does look like it was designed by a pipe fitter, doesn't it?

Given what it can do relative to historical military rifles, it could be pink and I'd still be happy though.

Very nice slick-side MRP, Llama Bob. Love my LMT MRPs.

Fixing to do some precision shooting out to 500yds with a recent MRP build using a 5.56mm SS 18" SPR MRP barrel with 1/7 twist. Those are made from Wilson blanks, if I recall correctly.

I'd be curious to know how it shoots. I've had some experience with that barrel, and didn't have much immediate luck with it. But I didn't have a lot of time to experiment either.

I don't eat the same thing for dinner every day, and I don't shoot the same rifle all the time. Variety is the spice of life and only accurate rifles are interesting. That is an interesting rifle and very sharp looks.

.375 - He's measuring outside to outside on the groups. Center to center is just barely under half MOA at .474" center to center @ 100 yards.

I hope my AR15 shoots that well once I get it assembled. Considering it will have a Shilen 20" Match barrel in 1:8 twist and a Geissele SSA-E trigger... it had better!

Yup. I don't put any great stock in one group, but the vast bulk of autos go their entire service life without shooting even vaguely that well. I'll do more experimentation this weekend with Mk262 and more FGMM and see what I can make it do...

indeed
+ accuracy for the expenditure.
Gunsmiths must really hate Savage.
