Who uses weapon mounted lights on their semi auto handgun? Why do you use that over a regular flashlight and what are the posotives/negatives of this set-up? What light do you have? Any holsters for it?

I'm trying to decide if I want a streamlight tlr-1, insight m3x, or m3. What do you think?

Who says you have to use it over a regular flashlight? Both a handheld and a weapon light have their own pros and cons, so I use both. The handheld for most of the work, and the mounted for when a spare hand is needed. There's no need to handicap yourself by only using one or the other. I use the Xiphos weapon light on my G19 with the Blackhawk SERPA holster designed for this purpose.

I use a TLR-2s on my bed gun, but I also keep a Streamlight Nightfighter with it.
For outside the home, I carry a Nightfighter, but due to bulk/difficulty finding a holster I don't bother with a weapon mounted light.
'Course, when I have my big coat on, I have been known to carry a weapon light in the pocket-should I need it (and have the time) I could attach it, but it's mostly for times when you just need a light-use on the gun is secondary.

I use a Glock 22 with an Insight M3 at my job . Thats what we are issued . But for me off-duty I use a TLR-1 with a LED on my Glock 17

I use the Streamlight TLR-2 weapons mounted laser/lights on all my HD guns, rifles, pistols and shotguns.

Because of having a home range I practice a good bit of low light/dark, laser/light shooting.
IMO the weapons mounted light and better yet the laser/light is far superior to trying to use a hand held light. The WML is far faster and way more accurate that whatever is in second place.

A Streamlight TLR-2 on a defense gun, in low light/dark, is almost like cheating.

Chances are, while the average shooter is fumbling around with a hand held light and trying to align the gun sights, the average shooter using a gun mounted light will already have gotten off a couple fast, well aimed shots.
