Is it possible to wear out a stock GP100 revolver spring to the point of lite strikes during double action? I would guess 8K rounds of 158gr target rounds. Not much power (Unique) just quantity.
I just started getting lite strikes when in double action. If I single action the same round it will go off.??? Time for the Gun Smith ??

If its anything like an SP101, the hammer spring is very easy to replace. No gunsmith required.

I have worked on lots of Rugers, both SA and DA and I find it VERY hard to believe that the factory springs could "wear out" in your lifetime. I believe there is something else going on here. What kind of primers/ammo are you seeing light strikes on? Has anyone worked on this gun since it left the factory? 8K rounds is a drop in the bucket in the life of a Ruger. Unless Ruger had a bad batch of springs that were not tempered properly you may have a headspace issue or a firing pin issue.

Well I did go from old stock to new stock on cci500 primers. The old primers were 2+ years old. And the new just came off the shelf. ?? Maybe so .
Knowbody ever worked on the gun.
Head space? not sure. I never measured it but the cylinder play always felt the same. Nothing noticable.

OK, that's a clue. The age of the primers should not be a factor unless they were stored improperly(dampness or extreme heat). CCI primers are the hardest primers to ignite. Federal are the softest and Winchester and Remington in the middle. Are you sure that the primers are being seated to full depth in the case? They should be seated about 2 thous. below the surface of the case head. Sometimes energy will be lost as the hammer/firing pin has to finish seating the primer and then ignite it. Check that out first. Also look closely at the firing pin to ensure it is not chipped or damaged on the tip. With the gun UNLOADED pull the hammer back and hold it up to a light, release the hammer and look through the gap at the rear of the cyl/frame and see how much firing pin is showing. I would replace the mainspring with a new one from Ruger or Wolff and see what happens. If you're still getting less than 100% ignition you're probably going to have to let a smith check the gun over.
