Wearing a CCW Badge...

Some folks have such a driving inferiority complex that they will do anything to make themselves look larger/better. Sad that there are those who have never achieved anything and seek recognition from any source. Have known a few like those and they are sad folks.

I think the badge could get you accused of "impersonating an officer". I think they are stupid and I would avoid anyone who wore one like the plague.

Very true. When I want to really go big, I put on my Imperial Margarine crown. I only wear that in the kitchen though.. you know. No sense giving the commoners an inferiority complex.

Its funny, but I did 20 years as a cop, and I really don't have a problem with them. I guess if you really TRY to impersonate an officer, or some cops TRY to accuse you of impersonating one (and are stupid enough to charge you and go in front of a judge or jury with nothing more than possession of a badge that DOESN"T say "police" on it), then it might be a bad idea. Mere presence or ownership, or carrying, a badge that says "concealed weapon permit" etc, doesn't "imply" impersonating a police officer to me. If right after the moment of a righteous self defense shooting the presence of a CCW badge slows a responding cop down from shooting YOU (i.e., might it help him identify you as a "good guy"?), then maybe it wasn't a bad idea. You can argue the rest later in court, as long as your alive to do it.

If concealed means concealed, and we are not to bring attention to ourselves, then why do so many insist on wearing the latest walking advertisement on their t-shirt? Does an untucked Springfield Armory t-shirt and 5.11 tactical pants combo not advertise concealed carry almost as quickly as a ludicrous badge? Most seem to be ok with that attire. I could care less myself and happen to be comfortable in such dress.

Don't get me wrong, I think that the badge thing is about as ridiculous as you can get, but not simply because it broadcasts concealed carry per se. Moreso just because it broadcasts an extreme failure at even being tacticool, if that's the look one is going for.

I actually could see them being useful in one application.

It wouldn't be adviseable to actually wear it, but to keep it in one of those flip wallets. If you ever did find yourself in a nasty situation and needing to identify yourself to the police as the good guy, someone flashing a badge-any badge-i suspect would make responding officers less apt to shoot you when trying to determine which MWAG is the threat. They may get cranky with you after the fact, but if it prevents you getting perforated, so what?

I'm kind of with Yelovitz 503, in making the announcement when you hit the mall. Some enterprising individual could come up with the Official CCW Tactical Megaphone, which would include a separate combat battery pouch.

Real ninjas are silent and nearly invisible, except when they choose not to be. They NEVER choose not to be. They despise mall ninjas, because mall ninjas will NOT shut up and be unobtrusive... EVER. This would make them easy targets for the Robots, except the Robots (correctly) almost never identify them as a real threat. :p
Can someone fit "I live in my mom's basement, and my girlfriend is an imaginary super-hot swimsuit model" on a shiny plastic badge for these guys?
This is an EXCELLENT way to draw unwanted (and possibly much-needed) REAL law enforcement attention. Impersonating an officer is a CRIME; even with a CCW, they can easily argue then that this guy is IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM IN THE COMISSION OF A CRIME. The charge may or may not stick... but it'd be good enough for a felony arrest in most localities, I'd think, if the officer in question were so inclined.

I keep seeing those stupid things in the Cheaper than Dirt and Sportsmans Guide catalogs..perfect for the loser who wants to stroke his ego with that fisher price badge...

IM AN "OFFICAL" CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT HOLDER..RESPECT MA AUTHORIT-A!
