Has anyone tried the Weatherby Element shotgun? It is an inertia operated design. I don't want to spend Benelli money so I am looking at the lower priced inertia shotguns like the Element, Franchi Affinity, and the Stoeger M3000. I already own a gas semiautomatic and pump actions, so I am looking for something different.

Don't own one but have handled and shot them. I do own two Affinity's. Stock dimensions are the same for both shotguns so fit is the same. IMO they are almost exactly even in terms of quality. Though I don't have an Element there are three SA-08's and a SA-459 in the family. Customer service with both companies is excellent though I'd give the edge to Weatherby. It's the best I've experienced from any firearms maker.

I'm not a Stoeger hater, have a Cougar I really like and used to own a M2000. I don't believe Stoeger shotguns are in the same league as Weatherby and Franchi.

Thanks for the input. Does the Affinity need a heavier load to ensure reliable cycling? I know this can be an issue with the inertia design. I typically shoot the 1 ounce or 1 1/8 ounce target loads.

My 20 gauge Affinity cycled 7/8 oz loads and my 12 cycled 1 oz loads from the get go. Didn't do any break-in with heavy loads, just cleaned it and shot. The Affinity is made on the same assembly line as the Benelli M2, it is a good shotgun, but so is the Element IMO.
