I have a question for you members out there who know more than I do about Weatherby Mark V rifles.

I recently purchased a used SS Weatherby Mark V. The barrel is 26" long and is fluted. It has what appears to be a factory installed muzzlebrake. The chambering is .257 Weatherby Mag. The stock is black synthetic.

My question is this. Does anyone know if, indeed, this is a factory installed option, and, does anyone have a "false muzzle" to replace the muzzlebrake? I don't like the appearance of it and would like to remove it and have the barrel clean and uncluttered.

Weatherby offers what they call an accubrake as an option. If this is what you have Weatherby should be able to provide you with a thread protector for your rifle.

Good Shooting
