Hello, i m about to buy a weatherby mark v, its a H prefix miroku made 9 lug in 300 win mag. never been fired. I want to ream the barrel out to 300 wby as that is a more fitting caliber for the gun. Does anyone know if i can use the original internal mag box and follower?
I reload and i know about ammo availability and all that.

It’s been several years since I have worked on a Mk V so I am a little rusty but I think the magazine has a block that can be removed to gain more length. If not, it must be replaced. The follower should work. The bolt itself may not have enough travel to pick up the next round. There is a groove in the bolt that the bolt stop pin runs in. This groove can be lengthened on a milling machine to gain more movement.
Better yet, live with the Win Mag.

Thanks for the info, just what i needed to know. I wil keep it in win mag for now. Its going to end up as a 338 lapua down the road anyways. So doing more work than a simple reaming is out of the question as that wold just feel like a waste of money.
