Weaver Model # 'Classic Extreme' 2.5-10 x 50 Rifle Scope

Does anyone have any experience with Weaver scopes? I have a chance to purchase a N.I.B. Model 800704 'Classic Extreme' 2.5-10 x 50 rifle scope from a friend who no longer has a use for it. He is asking $300 for it. It has an illuminated reticle. It seems pretty bright and clear glass. I would mount it to a 30-06 Savage bolt gun. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it's one of the older, Japanese models, and it looks good, go for it.
If it's made in the Philippines, you can get a brand new one for that price.
