SoI ordered an AR last week, realized it has no rear sight, so today I checked out Cheaper Than Dirt to buy a detachable Carry Handle with rear sight. they only had two on there, one made by Leaper's for about $40, and one from Weaver for $65ish. I originally had decided to pick up the cheapest one available, but when I was looking at them I went with the Weaver. Is weaver actually a company? I always have associated them with the rails.
Also, which one is the higher quality carry handle, and did I do right?

I also picked up what might have been a no-name non-flip up detachable rear sight, just cause. it cost 25. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two products?

Thanks,

NG VI

Both are junk.

CDNN is selling Bushmaster and Colt carry handles, and Numrich had some Stag handles...

that sucks. guess I blew 100 bucks, I'll have to check out CDNN and Numrich. If only I'd asked first.

Enjoy your purchase. I picked up one of the $40 Leapers 10 years ago and it's still going strong.

Well I checked out CDNN and Numrich, numrich is a nasty site to navigate, I gave up when I found one item that looked like what I wanted, but it cost 194 dollars. too rich for my blood. Also there were 403 pages of results. CDNN is sold out of the Colt, and I almost bought the other one with no name but decided on a poker set, israeli grip, couple mag pouches, and instead.

I just figured that I already have two rear sights on the way to me, I'll give them a good shot before I ditch them.

Also, by junk what exactly do you mean? Crappy loose fit? wobbly? irregular apertures? can't maintain a zero? substandard in some way? Bad finish?

thanks,

Max

You did ok, NG VI. The Weaver rendition is a decent product and a good value. You can pay a lot more and get less.

I'm still waiting for patrol120's criteria for "junk"- and I don't mean "evidence" based on anecdotal, word-of-mouth tripe.

Awesome! I was not thrilled at all by the NUmrich 194 dollar carry handle, I just don't think it's good policy to go around paying a third the cost of your new rifle on a rear sight it didn't come with. Besides, both CTD and CDNN sometimes have a tendency to not list the manufacturer of their items. Don't know why, just is. Like the two Glock +2 basepads I got from CDNN, they are identical to the factory Glock +2 on the 33 round magazine, but they are marked differently and don't say glock on them.

I can't wait to get my rifle!

Thanks SSwampwolf!
