Hi all,

I have a number of Winchester and Remington once used brass fired from my rifle that I want to reload. I read somewhere that they may not be identical re weight and dimensions and that this may be a problem for reloading.

So I weighed the empty cases and the Winchester comes in at around 158gns with the Remington at around 166gns.

Is this a problem? Do I need to adjust my loading to suit the different brass, if so how? Could this be dangerous?

I am in Australia so will use a fairly mild load with a 110gn vmax and 45gn of 2206H. Thanks guys.

Steve.

I wouldn't worry about. Fed brass is pretty heavy and so is some military brass. Heavier brass means thicker brass which in turn has less case capacity. A heavy charge in your Rem brass would be heavier in thicker brass. I have had stiff bolt lift with a given charge in Fed brass and the same charge in Win brass didn't have the same PSI signs. As long as you start low and work up in incriments you should be fine. I use Win and Rem brass and use the same charge for both. All my shooting is at 200 and 100yds so I don't load real heavy. Hope this helps, I'm sure someone can chime in and maybe explain it better.
