I bought a new Glock 22 today (already own one and wanted a second).

Although this time, one of the mags was a regular mag, but the other one has a very weak spring and on the back it says, "RESTRICTED LE/GOVT ONLY".

Lists it's date of manufacture as 9.13.94

So, I'm wondering if this Glock 22 has been sitting at the gun store for the last 12 years, or if there was a mistake in packing the mags at the factory?

I'll call Glock tomorrow and ask for them to replace the mag.

I compared it side by side with my other Glock 22, and it seems to be identical, same mostly supported chamber (newer chamber), etc. So, I guess the mag is a fluke.

I'll call Glock to send me a replacement.

All my recent mags have 9-13-94. This is on 2 G20s. A .357sig and a G22. The G20s were bought new in 06 and it says 9-13-94 on the mags.

He threw in a trashy mag to make what you bought look like a better deal. Not very honest but a minor issue not much you can do.

Glocks usually come with 2 mags standard.

the first mag was a regular mag. The second is the one in question.

and the lack of cleaning rod/brush p's me off.

ETA: This was a new gun.

These are very trivial difficulties. All of your problems can be solved with 30$.

Factory test rounds were fired/collected October 16, 2006 - so it is a recently manufactured gun.

Something is fishy though.

I've bought 5 guns through this dealer and never had a problem. I'm assuming this was a Glock packaging problem.

I'm calling Glock and saying I want a new cleaning rod and brush, and 2 brand new mags.

And if they want me to ship back the two that came with it, fine. I don't trust either at this point with how this gun was packaged.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Glock..... but this one incident has me ticked off.

True, but I just am a man who expects what he pays for. For $500, I want EVERYTHING that is supposed to come with it.

OK, let me get this straight. So your NEW Glock came with:

1. Manual
2. Gun
3. Two mags (one LEO-law enforcement only mag)

You're missing:
1. Two empty fired casings that came in an envelope
2. Nylon brush
3. Cleaning Rod
4. Magazine loader
5. Safety lock?

Gun owner went through your stuff.

Fortunately it's not quite that bad.

Came with:
1. Gun
2. Envelope with manual
3. 2 mags (1 labeled "7" at the top and the other is older LE mag with weak spring.
4. Fired casings dated Oct 16, 2006
5. Magazine loader
6. Safety lock

So all I'm missing is a regular mag, and the cleaning rod and brush. It's not much, but still I just get annoyed when an expensive object is missing stuff.

It's like buying a top of the line car but it is missing the radio and power windows. Minor things, but still enough to tick you off.

better example

It's like buying a brand new LF Surefire flashlight that is missing the batteries and the landyard.

Your LE mag may not be that old. The date in question just means that it was made after that date. The 9/13/94 is the date of the Assault Weapons Ban. All high cap mags made between 9/94 and 9/04 for use in the U.S. were marked that way.

Your dealer took out the accessories and new mags to sell later.

Happens all the time, because it is just too easy/tempting with the case having to be opened anyway to log the gun in. Always know what you should be getting, and check your case before you leave the building.

A dealer tried to rip me off for $75 worth of chokes one time. I made sure they were there before I left, and definitely haven't been back.

I agree with Universal. I checked and all my magazines to all my Glocks have the 9-13-04. This includes my new ones.

This is the first one I've seen that has it.

I have something like 40+ mags.

Weird.

Also the top is numberd "5" while most of my other ones are "7" or "8" which I assumes generation number.

I think the dealer is playing games, and ***** games at that.

Call Glock, if for no other reason than letting them know about this person.

You might be right.

I can't be sure.

The mag does seem to be unused (I took it apart and looked for powder residue or any signs that it's been cleaned. I think it's just weak from being an older generation (5) mag.

and I'm wondering if perhaps if it is their fault, maybe the cleaning rod/brush fell out at some point and they didn't notice, because I know from asking in the past that they don't stock/sell Glock cleaning rods/brushes nor the Glock tool (I had to go somewhere else to get a couple of them a few weeks ago).

So far this dealer has been very good to me, and they even recently just gave me a Glock 27 brand new for free (they had already written up the bill for a bunch of 22 and 23 mags, and when I asked to add a 27 mag, they said, "Rather than rewrite the bill, here you go." and handed it to me.

The G22 itself also seems entirely unused as the copper grease is untouched.

So, it could be them, or it might have been a small fluke at the Glock packaging area (new guy maybe or something).

I hear Glock customer service is great, so I'm pretty sure they'll take care of this quickly.

In the meantime, I have at least 17 Glock 22 mags I can use to take it to the range. :)

A couple years ago I had a problem with my NIB G34, misfeeding. I called Glock and they told me it was the followers used in the 10 round mags it came with.

I asked that they send me some 17 rounders to replace them with since it was Dec 2004 and the AWB had expired.

I recieved 6 magazines marked LE only Sept. 13, 1994. All appeared to be new Magazines. I consider them to be a collector item. So maybe Glock has a warehouse full of these mags, and they are including them as a collectors item with your gun.

Since you couldn't get access to their site, here's their telephone number: 770-432-1202.

Be patient when they transfer you to the right person. Also, if you leave a message, they WILL call you back.

Called Glock at 8AM when they opened (I've been up since 5 AM). They told me that it would not have come from their factory and that the gun shipped with 2 regular mags and the cleaning rod/brush and that there is a 5 stage inspection process to ensure everything is in order.

They say it was either the distributor, or the dealer who messed things around.

Nonetheless, they said that they would make things right. They're sending me a new spring for the weird mag that has the weak spring and a cleaning rod/brush.

They also said if I'm still not happy with the mag, to send it to them and they'll replace it with a regular new mag.

That's good customer service there. :)
