Weird Glock mag came with my new Glock

Have you talked with the dealer?
Kept re-reading this post and didn't see where you have went to the dealer and discussed the troubles your having.
Start at the front of the problem- it might get taken care of, besides, if the guy once gave you a free mag he might just be a decent fella'.

Glock will take care of you, but I agree with others that this is a dealer problem.

The parts and right mag either accidentally fell out and he just happened to have a older G22 mag laying close by that he put back in the box.

I'd ask the dealer to make it right, it's not that much money and he should have sold you a completely new gun with all of the accessories.

Steve

I didn't mention it, but the first thing I did was call the dealer.

He claimed that he sold it to me exactly how it came to him.

Whether he's full of it or not, I don't know. I've never had a problem with them before, but at least Glock is taking care of this.

The gun did seem new though, the copper paste didn't seem to have been touched.

Sounds like it is being taken care of.

Lesson learned: Next time check it out good before you pay the dealer and walk out the door.:neener:

Glock service is great - I was going to advise you to just phone glock.

I bought a used G22 and it was missing the manual, brush, rod and loader - when I asked about buying them Glock said not necessary we'll ship them to you free.

They didn't ask any question other than where to send them.

You know it almost sounds like you got a grey market Glock. Not sure if there is such a thing. But imagine a LE department orders 100 glocks and they dont come with the standard stuff to keep costs down. So they decide they dont need 50 of them and call a distributor to sell them. The distributor adds two magazines, and doesnt bother with the rest of the stuff that would be in a normal box.

Did you give Glock the serial number and ask if it was part of a special contract or run??

Just a thought

Glock originally was going to send me a replacement spring for the magazine, but I called today and said that for legal reasons I didn't feel that it was wise for me to have a magazine that says LE/GOVT on it.

When I spoke to the Glock rep the other day he said if I wanted, let him know and he'd swap out the magazine for me.

Today though, the rep I spoke to said he couldn't do that. Transferred me to the supervisor who basically yelled at me over the phone about me being paranoid.

Wouldn't replace the mag until I was about to give up arguing and finally told me to overnight the mag and he'd replace it.

According to him there's nothing wrong with the mag and they ship lots like it.

All I know is I'm not law-enforcement or government and I don't want some ATF agent or DA getting on my case about it some day - and the spring is weak.

I'm shocked that I got yelled at though.

the more I think about how I was treated over the phone, the angrier I am getting.

"Glock Perfection"

I'm not LE or Govt. so if I kindly asked for what was already offered to me: to have the mag swapped out with one that does not say that, why was I chastised?

What was perfect about that?

AWB sunset aside, it was explained that they still send out these older mags that say "Restricted LE/GOVT only" - to anybody. That doesn't seem like it puts their customers in a good position.

It's already well established that the ATF will make your life difficult however possible, so it would seem my request was reasonable.

Their customer service should be striving to achieve perfection with their customers, especially with simple requests like mine. This is my fourth Glock, and I have probably nearly a grand worth of mags alone, so to be criticized over the phone, belitted, and treated so rudely - that's just not cool.

I'm just shocked.... I suppose.

I don't hate Glock or anything. I don't like the way I was treated at all though.

You are being paranoid. The AWB is dead (for now). If there's an AWB2, the mags will be listed with the new date. Glock did nothing wrong. Your dealer is a bum. "It came to me that way." B-S. He's a dealer and should know what's in the case.

Contact Glock again and advise that dudes' manager. Customers don't deserve to be "yelled at" from a customer service rep.

But you must take account, that it's a customer service rep's job is to deal with complaints 24-7.

If I were you, I'd just destroy the LE/Gov mag and just buy a regular (legal) one.

Halvey - the guy at Glock said that they still have tens of thousands of those mags left and are still enclosing them with guns they ship. In fact, the guy before him said that some of their operations still manufacture them like that. So it seems likely now that it actually did really come to him with that.

In some states (NY, Mass, CA, etc.) having a 10+ round mag is illegal.

And if a civilian own any firearm items that says "Law Enforcement/Government Only" it could turn into some bad karma.

Just my opinion.

Exactly my fear.

It's like: anti-gunners already demonize anything that says AR-15, but we buy them anyways.

How would you feel about buying an AR-15 if instead of saying just AR-15, it said, "AR-15 Rapid-Fire Capable Assault Weapon, For Military Use Only."

All of a sudden, you have a bit of a liability on your hands.

That's how I feel about my brand new "Civilian" mag saying "RESTRICTED LE/GOVT USE ONLY"

Of course he didn't touch the copper paste because it's hard to sell. :neener: Seriously, someone screwed you. :fire: The little numbers on top of the followers should be in the 5, 6, 7 to 8 range. The higher the number the newer the follower. There is a thief somewhere in the pipeline.

Most of mine are 8 or 7. I have probably 2 6's and this was the only 5 I've seen.

Anyways - it's shipped with a letter explaining that I take the slogan "Glock Perfection" very seriously.

The mag thing seems like it was legit from what Glock told me.

The brush and rod are another story, but the dealer doesn't sell that stuff, so it probably wasn't him. If anything, maybe the distributor. Or maybe it really just left the factory without a brush or rod.

The time I called in and spoke to a polite guy (the first time), I was informed though that what my dealer had told me was rubbish. The dealer said to only use the Glock nylon brush and polymer rod to clean my Glocks because anything else will damage it. I believed him for some reason, even though I had a hard time imagining that the metal could be that soft.

Apparently that's rubbish, so it's time to invest in a quality .40 cal cleaning kit.

I really do hope Glock clears up this mag. I don't care so much about the cleaning rod and brush considering I already have 3 of them.

Mags are $22 for me though, so it would be a shame to have that not work out.

Transferred me to the supervisor who basically yelled at me over the phone about me being paranoid.

I'm inclined to agree with him...

I (and I'm sure MANY people on this board) own mags marked LE only. I've SOLD firearms to LEOs with marked mags. I've never had any of them blink at that.

You really have nothing to worry about with the LE magazine.

1.) The Dealer - Seems like he is a tool. The mere fact that he wouldn't just swap it out for you suggests that he is a tool, whether it was intentionally removed prior to the sale or not. I would give him another shot, and if he refuses to swap it, then take your business elsewhere.

2.) The Glock Rep - There is never any reason a customer should be yelled at by a representative. Call a supervisor and report him.

3.) The LE Magazine - This magazine is certainly legal to own (at least in my state). I worry not about them. It is as legal to own as an AR-15. Why not own it, if it is legal? Karma be danged! But do as you please. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, by all means get one without the "bad karma" words printed on it.

Good luck to you. Hope you find an appropriate resolution!

There are a whole lot of 1911s and other guns marked "US Government Property". I wouldn't sweat the markings, but they should provide you with a magazine that works properly.

They say it was either the distributor, or the dealer who messed things around.

My guess would be the dealer.
During the early days of the ban, gunshops recognized that the price of standard capacity mags was going to go way up, so they went through and stripped all the guns for their mags and replaced them with 10 rounders!!!

The full capacity mags would then magically appear on the shelf with an outrageous price attached. ;)

Perhaps, in anticipation of part two, the dealer pulled a fast one.
I would bet that your mag has been "returned to stock"!!! :scrutiny:

I wonder if the dealer didn't accidentally give you the wrong box for your new weapon. I suggest that you check the serial number of yor weapon against the serial number on the box. I have seen this happen numerous times at gun dealers.
