but, I got a very welcomed suprise this weekend.

After a glorious range session on Friday night (and much needed 12ga. theropy session) Then having wonderfull wether on Saturday to go to a gun show and grilling out in the afternoon with friends. When I returned home in the evening I checked my mail box and what do my eyes see...

An envelope frome the department of safety. I went inside and opened the letter and found ....drum roll please.....My Hand gun carry permit:D :D Whoopeee. I went right back out and showed it to the "Slingers". Then I went to Wally World and bought a poster frame. I saved my target when I took the test, the certificate that showed I passed, the receit for the application, and the copy of the fingerprint card. As you gussed I'm going to frame them.

Anyopne else get this excited?

And yes before anyone asks I am a bit nuts:neener:

...Dave

I get fingerprinted today. The wait begins.........

How long did you have to wait, Dave? I was told 3 to 5 weeks from fingerprinting.

I saved my target, too! :D

How excited did I get?

For weeks, I almost hoped to get pulled over for a speeding ticket, just so I had a valid excuse to show my carry permit to someone. :p

Keep it hidden anyway. :)

Oh, and congrats.

It was a gooooood weekend wasnt it Dave?

I do want to say thanks to the "Slingers" for being such great hosts. It was one of the best weekends Ive had in a long time.

And Dave....better not get too big of a poster frame... from what I hear your apartment might not handle it :D

But congrats...I may be able to go get mine here soon...dang money and not enough of it.

Darrin,

It took about 3 weeks. Happy waiting:D

Bowlcut,

I started to hang the poster and noticed my wall starting to buckle:what:
Cslinger is still griping about the sig :neener:

I am over the SIG. I do not want the SIG. The SIG did not exist.

My next will be a sporting clay shotgun.

What SIG? There was a SIG there? Where?:uhoh:

There is no SIG.:banghead:

THERE WAS NO SIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :cuss:

I can stop anytime I want. I am not an addict. Addicts can't stop and I can stop.:uhoh:

"Honey we can go back and you can get it if you want it"

Most uttered line after a gun show I do believe.

That sure was a pretty sig tho :D

I will now want to have Dave as my backup i do believe...and his ability to hit something with a mkII at full auto...well his intrupertation of full auto atleast :neener:

Im still waiting to exhale...wait get exicited :D...im in one funny mood today thats for sure.

Here in upstate NY,you first get your permit usually with hunting and target restrictions. That means you can carry concealed, but only on the way to and from hunting or target shooting.Pretty stupid.Anyway, depending on where you live and who has the say so,it's easy or impossible to get your restrictions off.In my county I had to write a letter to the judge who signed my permit after taking an extended NRA safety course. After writing my letter and giving it to the permit clerk(who is awesome) it took about 2 weeks.I got a call from the judge himself. He appologized for the delay and said my restrictions had been taken off.I then went to the permit clerk(did I mention she's awesome)and had my new permit that says"unrestricted" in my hand in about 5min.
I live in a rural area and it's mostly conservative. But i do hear horror stories from people in neighboring counties.
My father had his permit for 20years before he got his restrictions off, and he lives 15min from me in a different county.
Aside from Packing.org,I don't really know what others have to go thru...........maybe this should be it's own post......
