CZ 75 SP-01 9mm
SA XDm 9mm
HK P2000 9mm

Tax return is coming and the wife says I can get a new handgun...I have narrowed it down...

What would you choose and why?

cz's are solid guns, a lot of guys swear by them. HK's are a bit to expensive for me and not much better than less expensive pistols. I have no experience with the smith autoloaders, so I would vote for the CZ. They are thin enough for carry and accurate to boot. However, I would suggest looking at springfield xd's and sigs also. Both are great companies and make solid pistols.

I would get the CZ. I have 3 CZ's now and had 6 at one time and none have ever failed me. They are awesome guns. Very accurate and very reliable. No better 9mm made IMO.

Haven't seen the STI before, will have to look that one up.

If it helps any, I have experience with the M9 and I've been doing lots of research and I have seen nothing but great things on the CZ. The same with the XD, but I handled one at the store and the grip safety just wasn't for me.

+ 1 for the CZ or its clones like EAA Witness and Baby Eagle.

I haven't shot the STI, but I have handled enough of them that I'm starting an STI savings fund. And their made in Texas, so that is some extra incentive for me :D

And welcome to the forum BTW, Lemon10 and UgaDawg

.....

even though im a smith wesson fan,ive shot a springfield p9 cz75 compact copy and the way a cz fits the hand is nice and it shoots great,go cz.

I have small hands so the CZ 75 was always a bit of reach for me. The SA XDM is quite comfortable and has great ergonomics; same with the H&K P2000. But the one I chose many years ago is not on your list; and that is the Browning Hi-Power. Go with the one that feels the best to you, and enjoy.

h&k cost to much for me, don't care for da sa in the cz line or any da sa for that matter, so i would go with the xd, i love mine, it isn't an m but but still.

Hmm, I would put the CZ and the H&K at the same level for ergo's, the H&K and XDm are gonna be lightweight, but the CZ is excellent if you ever need to beat someone, the XDm has the highest capacity, and they're all about the same in reliability and durability... tough choice!

I would shoot them all first.

In searching for a 9mm for my wife we narrowed it down to;

CZ p-01
S&W M&P
SA XD

In that order. She ended up getting the CZ, I liked it so much I went and got one for myself. My favorite pistol now. I am a fan of the SA/DA and the decocker though, which I gather doesn't suit everyone. We both also really liked the M&P. The XD was last on our list, but I haven't shot the XDM.

I have no experience with CZ products, so I won't comment on them.

I have, however, owned 2 XD pistols in the past (.45 and .40), and currently own 2 H&K pistols (P2000sk and USP .40 Compact).

IMHO there is no contest here. H&K P2000 takes the cake out of the three choices you have listed. They are pricey, but you do get what you pay for with H&Ks. If you can afford one, get the P2000. You will not regret it. I won't even go into why I think they are better than the others, but I've owned just about every other make of handgun out there. Everything from 1911s to Glocks to XDs. From my experience H&K just makes a better pistol. My 2 cents I guess.

I'd say xd, but as I've stated in other threads, I own three Springfields. Part of the reason I like the xd so much is it's the same grip angle as a 1911, and with the grip safety it feels more like a 1911, which makes it less of a jump in ergonomics when I shoot one of my 1911's. I also like the trigger better than the M&P, and Glocks. To each his own though. The CZ's I've handled do feel real nice.
