I know, it's crazy: sometimes I stop talking about guns long enough to buy one.

So in about 9 hours I'll be at Cabela's looking over their one remaining 3" GP100 (it's on reserve, so you can put those car keys back down :uhoh:) with the normal not-Hogue-monstrosity grips. If it's new and unblemished (at $469 it better be new), I'll be buying it.

By the way, if you think I'm getting shanghaied by the price let me know BEFORE I buy it :D. According to Guns America and Gunbroker et al I'm doing average or better, so I'm not going to sweat the sales tax premium versus the FFL transfer fee.

Where was I? Ah yes:

I need holster options. I'm not focusing on CC-ing this puppy anytime soon since I'm a college student, but I want to have a holster. Production stuff like Galco and Desantis and (brace yourself) Uncle Mike's is what I'm thinking. Now, I don't want it to be trash, but I don't expect Milt Sparks quality either (and good thing). Just something I could wear around the apartment and whatever else that could serve some CCW purpose in the future.

I know, it's a GP100 and so I might as well attempt CC-ing a yard flamingo, but the more I can do with the holster in question the better.

Fire away. What's worked for you?

I think holsters are a very personal thing. I don't think anybody else can advise you, esp. on the type and type of draw.

Best case, you make your own. Or if you can afford it, have something made up custom for your needs.

Best we can do is to advise on the quality of particular makes.

Hey, good morning, get out of bed, it's time to go to the store! :)

I got a 3" GP100 a year ago and I love it. I got a Blade-Tech paddle holster for IDPA and it works fine. The Fobus paddle holster is probably not quite as nice, but to be honest I would have bought one of those if they'd been available then, since they're less than half the price. Even if they do have silly sci-fi/tacticool 'vent' slots on the side. I see there's a bunch of them on eBay for like $26. With either of these holsters, though, concealed carry is pretty much just for parka weather.

I'm kinda bummed because I missed out on some Desantis thumb-breaks specially made for the 3" that were on eBay last week for $50, but it wasn't in the budget. So I too am still on the quest for a 3" GP100 carry holster. But not too urgently -- that's what the SP101 is for. ;)

well, turns out cabela's can't tell a sp101 from a gp100 (even after I prompt them).

pretty disappointed, honestly.

got a couple shops hunting around. apparently I might as well be looking for a virgin in a nursing home. eww.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

If I see a 3" GP100 I'll let you know. I have one that I carry in the summer frequently, and love it. I'll be picking up a 2.25" SP101 to use as a BUG to my GP100. The 442 will be on my ankle.

rick:

I appreciate you posting that. I'd be all over it The Bullet Trap in Plano, TX hadn't found one through one of their distributers... for the misquoted Cabela's price!!! $469.

Hopefully have it by the end of the week, unless somebody ELSE put an order in for it first ahead of me. Not terribly worried about that, as we aren't talking LCPs here or anything. They seemed very determined to work something out with me though, and not by pressing their current inventory.

I'm anxious to hear something naturally, so we'll see.

Good luck to you Craig O. Stainless GP100 3" was one of my best "unexpeted- fall into, just happened to have the cash" finds. Repatriated from Canada. When you find it, get it.
