Went looking for a 30-06, came away with 8x57 Mauser

I use either Federal or Remington brass for my handloads, and get good results from both. It's a very good cartridge.

I also got a Lyman mold to throw a 172-grain gas-check cast bullet and load those for general practice with light loads.

The Turk surplus is hot, and I haven't had very good accuracy from it. The Romanian seems to be much more consistent.

New non-corrosive factory ammo- or handloads- definately take care of the cleaning problem, but I have fired a lot of the surplus in the past, with no problem so long as you clean properly right after shooting.
