Went to a gunshow today

I like to go to gun shows for the entertainment value mostly.:D
The guys arguing about caliber.
The GEN-X girls with babies, tattoos, and more piercings/hardware than I have in the reloading room.
The hunt for all the small dodads/parts/MAGs I always try to find.

And as always:
That gem of a firearm that everyone else has overlooked for some reason.

PS I bring my own jerky and refreshments.:neener:

These days I can't even drive around for an hour for $6 so an afternoon at the gunshow is a real bargain.

The internet has pretty much rendered the era of the gun show for "cheap" anything over.

Yea...I got my first 686 a few months ago right in the middle of the hysteria and it was $1200 after shipping and transfer (could only find it online. Granted it was the Competitor model from S&W's performance center, but yea...not cheap. I did get it a good bit under MSRP so it was a decent deal all things considered.

As for ammo...I did pick up some mildly inflated .357 hollow points (WWB) a little while back just because I wanted to shoot eh new 686. It was a little less than what it would have cost me to buy it at normal prices + shipping online. Now, I just check the local walmart whenever I happen to be there and sometimes I get lucky (very rarely...though I did happen to pick up 400 rounds of Winchester .22lr hollow points for about $0.05 a round a couple weeks ago). Walmart is the only place that seems to have kept their prices in a normal range.

Yep. Many if not most of the gun show sellers are trying to make a last few scores before people realize prices have come down in many local gun stores or other suppliers of guns and ammo. When they have to keep carting their boxes of guns and ammos back to their place of business, they will get tired of it and then prices will come down.

I will NOT pay ridiculous prices for any of this stuff, so let them keep it, and watch the prices fall. The Walmart resellers will soon not be waiting at Walmart every morning for the truck to arrive, as it won't be worth their time.
