The place was packed as expected. Lots of ARs of all types but prices have tripled. Most people were just looking and few buying, of course, buyers are smart and not falling into the prey.

Ammo stocks were very low and almost overpriced either double or tripled . No more 9mm , 22 LRs that are okey prices. Its still Walmart to go to get the best price today. The 5.56 in 1000 rd case priced at $600 , the 7.62 x 39 priced at &$500 plus tax are the new normal. Everything is outrageous in prices, nothing worth saying you get a deal.

As to pistols, they remain quite within normal prices. But i notice a lot of 1911 s in .22 LR caliber. i was tempted to get the Umarex Colt 1911 in .22 LR. And Ruger Mk 3s were also plentiful , maybe they anticipated people will retrench back to .shooting cheaper .22 LRs. For me , i just bought four boxes of Aguila Super .22 Colibre for backyard fun. And they aint cheap too like $5 per 50 rds. Oh well, the times have changed .

mostly because it's almost impossible to load yourself, and one of the anti-gun ideas being floated is to ban bulk internet sales of ammo.

I do not understand the run on .22.
22 has been an issue before the recent run on ammo. The more popular shooting becomes, the more popular 22 becomes. 22 is the most common type of ammo for all shooters. 22 is the cheapest thing to shoot, so by default it is the most popular.

At the range today everyone was shooting 22 along with other calibers.

I love my 1911-22. Shot it today.

Was this Conroe or Stafford?

I plan on going to Reliant this coming weekend. It's going to be rough but I like a good train wreck every now and then.

This was at Conroe. Theres plenty of guns but overpriced especially in ARs and AKs. Imagine the WASR 10 is now $1250 . I didnt see any AR below $2250.
You can see people just moving along and not buying. And many times i get to talked with people along the line, the same story, these prices are just not right. The sellers of course go with their usual salestalk trying to draw buyers.

Whatever happens this Tuesday, it will determine the mood of things by January 19. We will just expect the worse hysteria as more people buy guns. Maybe the prices will even soar up a little more, who knows. I saw one nice Yugoslavian Tokarev at $300 . Since the surplus ammo has almost ceased, i didnt bother . The thing to go right now is any .22 LR firearm. The ammo availability and cost plays a big factor to keep people shooting down the road.

The Ruger Mk 3 were in the $350-379. I even saw only one blued Ruger 22/45 with bull barrel . This has the wood 1911 grips which is nice. The guy was asking $369 plus tax.

As to revolvers, there were plenty of Taurus made guns. I didnt see any S W revolvers except being sold by private sellers. The 1911s were highly represented by all sorts of makers. Not much moving on them as .45 ACP ammo cost too much. People are smart.

The cheap surplus Mosin Nagant 91/30s were hardly seen, there was only one costing $250 with counterbore. Perhaps people may have bought most of them back in December . Yes, the ammo stocks were all low and priced way up there. I saw Tula made 223 bulk for $600 (1000 rds) hardly sold. Wolf 7.62 x 39 bulk for $500 (1000 rds). But im sure they will get sold as people are desperate. Not a good time for AR and AK owners who didnt stock up before.

I too went to a gun show today. Everything from 22 short mouse guns to .50 BMG semis were there. Lots of overpriced guns and ammo is all I saw. My favorite was a $2500 Beretta 92fs inox. :barf:

Hit my show in Cincinnati last weekend, picked up 2-romy g ak's for 400.00 each, they were rough on the finish but shoot like a dream spent the weekend refinishing them.

I picked up 7.6x54 ammo for 90.00 per 440rd can( I bought 2)8mm was 90.00 per 300rds

I thought I Did pretty good, couldn't touch the ar's as the dealers were sold out before I made it through the door, and private sellers were very high same could be said for .223 and 7.62 ammo. Luckily I stocked up early.
