We're 11 days into the gun panic-anyone PLANNING to add to it?

Are you going to ADD to the current gun run?

We've heard a million news stories about the people who have BUILT the current gun purchase frenzy with their purchases from Nov 4 to now, but I'm curious if anyone is going to go add to it. Are you going to pick up one of the remaining EBRs on the shelves of the smaller dealers? Are you going to add your name to the back ordered list? Are you currently bidding on some assault weapon on gunbroker?

I haven't bought a single firearm during this time of panic and the temptation is sure getting strong.

I'd love to, but with inflated prices, I missed the boat. My gun aspirations are a little lower, however. Right now I am looking for a decent used 10/22.

After that, maybe an M1 carbine if I can get one.

The official title is "The Great Gun Panic of 2008" - please make a note of it so we can distinguish between past and future periods of panic.

(you're obsessed with this eh NoFear?)

Does it count that instead of buying a firearm I divested my self of an equal sum of money to stock up on reloading supplies? :p

Ammo. I had this discussion a while back with an immigrant friend. He was from a country where you couldn't own firearms and got all in an uproar that we need to make sure we all have lots of guns. Lots of guns, he said. I corrected him, I said you don't really need lots of guns, what you need is one gun (or a few) and lots of ammunition. ;)

No I have plenty of guns

I’m not sure about ‘plenty’ but I have the guns I want that could be subject to a ban due to high capacity magazines and/or irrelevant cosmetic features.

I’m hunkered down for now with the EBRs I have and my reloading bench.

I guess we'll see...

I bought a stripped lower. That's as far as I'm gonna go until either a) the panic dies down, or b) the ban actually gets passed.

I cleared out a local wal-mart of 9mm (Blazer Brass) but that was mostly because I wanted to make sure I had a stash in case everybody ELSE went panic buying and I couldn't find any. But I have to admit, over the last few months, I've added a couple of pieces to the collection (Yugo M70 for $425, and a Bushy Carbon 15 pistol in 9mm for $725).

Oh - and instead of whining like so many other people and waiting for bad things to happen, I joined the NRA - and wrote all of my congressman (one responded today).

stuff

No toys or accessories unless you wanna call the cases of beer, beans and ribs that I loaded up on.
Buy food while everyone is buying ammo and other goods, you'll be ahead.

I'm through buying EBRs.
I saw the writing on the wall a few years ago and bought them then. I'm casually buying only collectible milsurps now.

Well I watch auction sites and retail sites very closely, maybe too much.:scrutiny:Im making a list Im checking it twice, seeing who has been naughty or nice. And those that are selling a AR 6920 for 2k or a WASR for $900 I'll remember them......

This weekend I might go to a gunshow lol!.....now that should be interesting.Meh as far as EBR?,I have just about everything I might want, the only way I'll get something else is if they list it the price at before the election prices OR very close to it.

The way I see it,there isn't even a bill going through congress yet but dealers are jacking up prices like they are already banned?Maybe a AR will stay at 2k so what is the hurry now?6 months from now if it is still 2k then oh well.Don't tell me "well it might even go more expensive",what? 3k for a AR?,it that case keep it.

So what is the hurry now if you can't find one at a non inflated price?Or maybe they won't stay inflated eh?3 months ago people were predicting 6 dollar a gallon gas saying of it will never go below $3 a gallon again. Two years ago someone said their Mcmansion could never drop half in price in one year....impossible.Some people in the last couple months invested in gold now all of a sudden it drops in value.....

Im glad that there was this panic spree,it sent a message that even the media could not ignore, maybe the Dems will be smart enough to see that doing any bans now is a kiss of death to their hold on DC.But the only reason that a AR-15 is being listed at 2k now is because people are willing to pay it.The short time to grab one after the election has passed, the prices are now inflated and will stay that way if you are willing to pay 2k for a AR that doesn't even have legislation pending yet to ban it.Stop buying them, then they start sitting on the shelf and manufactures stop getting orders ans see how they drop in price.

No, I'm sitting on a pretty big pile of guns and ammo as it is.....I keep sliding off the dang thing. I've been working the last two years to try and beat the rush.

I bought another gun recently, but the fact that I picked it up around election time was entirely coincidental. I bought my scary looking rifles and hi-cap handguns years ago.

Well...

There is a gun show this weekend. I'm actually curious as to if anyone will be buying or not. So I'll head over and browse a bit.

Kind of a unique situation, poor economy, so the prices should be down. However, they will prob be up because of the election results.

Sad thing is, since the boat sank, I just don't have anything to sell or trade. And, money is a bit too tight to buy. :(

Unless of course, it's a smokin hot deal

My June when the DOW is at 5000 and there are still no new guns control laws you will be able to get a never fired like new AR for 75% of the going price now.

dryhumor, yeah I might go to one also, not to get a panic buy gun but just to see if any milsurps are around.I fully expect that I will have to wait outside just get in and that oh yeah the tables will have AR's for 2k and they will probably sell.

But after a while when most people have aleady got theirs, they probably won't sell as much,or people will run out of money anyway.I could by a AR that was $1200 a week ago for 2k tommorrow,or I xcould wait and see at this point to see just what happens and at worst I might pay 2k 6 months from now for that AR.And inflate it enough in price it just gets to a point that you know what, forget it....

The dealers are putting the prices too high. I just can't see buying an SKS for 400 bucks when I could go buy two NEW Mossberg shotguns at Wal Mart for the same price, or buy one shotgun and then $200 worth of shotgun ammo.

With a bad economy, and people getting laid off, you'd figure dealers would want to sell what they had while they still had people who could buy it. Once it gets to the point that people don't have money, dealers will be taking half the value they would have taken 6 months ago for firearms.

By June when the DOW is at 5000 and there are still no new guns control laws you will be able to get a never fired like new AR for 75% of the going price now.

Two of those three are likely but not the last one.

I fully expect that I will have to wait outside just get in and that oh yeah the tables will have AR's for 2k and they will probably sell.
I hate how gun shows do that to inexperienced shooters/buyers. Someone should make a flier with a range of acceptable prices for certain guns and pass it out to everyone who walks in the doors (THAT would ruffle some feathers now wouldn't it ;))

I am waiting for two NFA transfers that have been takeing forever. But no new purchases other than those, and those were started in the start of August. I always buy ammo, whether I shoot or not.

I bought before the last panic caused by the Clintons. You could buy a Colt H-Bar back then NIB for $639
