Frances missed me by 168 miles or so, but she was still able to do this.

Power just came back up an hour or so ago. Sorry for the delays.

Glad all is well with you

Really sorry for all my good friends living in Florida. Everytime I see the weather forcast a large storm down there I worry about just where it will end up. Having worked many times over the past 30 years in Florida I have a good feeling for it. Anyway really glad to see the Highroad back online:) And I hope Ivan will stay far away.

Way to go, Derek.

I hope that your life hasn't been too affected by Frances, and that Ivan leaves you alone.

Excellent. Thanks for keeping us updated, Derek. Throwing Knoppix on your laptop and hosting from there for a few hours was a stroke of genius.

Mr. Zeanah:

Good to know that you and yours are safe. Hurricanes are one reason I no longer live/work in the Charleston, SC area. Rode out Hurricane Hugo in 1989. One instance of that was MORE than sufficient for me.

Keeping watch for Ivan...hope that one misses you by many more than 160 miles.

Warmest Regards, and thanks for all your work in keeping "The High Road" going.

Excellent! Hope all of you in the area are alright. Two hurricanes in a matter of weeks is just plain insult to injury. Three is ... no words.

Brian

It's good to be home!

Now as for Ivan... I believe sm had an idea on that matter... something about discharging as many shotguns as we can muster into the storm, in a giant pseudo-skeet shoot to throw it off course? I'm in! :D
